What size spacer will I have to use so that my GT-40 intake will clear the Ford Racing valve covers? Will I have issues with the intake clearing the hood?

I used the 3/8" spacer so my TFS intake would clear the FMS valve covers. It will fit under the hood, but it might rub on the hood liner. Don't take the hood liner out though. You run the risk of having the intake rub against the hood instead and getting scratched.

So what model TFS intake are you running? Did you have to do any modifications to the routing of the vaccuum tree or the throttle linkage to make it work?

TFS Street Heat intake. No modifications to tree or linkage. I don't remember the part number for the valve covers I've got, but they clear roller rockers and with the 3/8" spacer, the intake cleared the covers.

Thanks for the info. I went to Serramonte Ford this evening and they had a 5.0 engine on display with the Ford Racing (tall) valve covers and a GT-40 intake. They were using a 1" spacer and said that anything less probably would not clear the valve covers. With the 1" spacer the intake would not clear the hood.
Sounds like the TFS intake has a lot more clearance than the GT-40.
Hmmmm, maybe I should consider switching intakes ![[Smile]](smile.gif)

3/8" spacer allowed my Cobra intake to clear the FMS valve covers (the nice looking "finned" ones). Of course the oil fill tube got in the way of the throttle body on a 94-95 so I had to change valve covers again. /sigh.

Yeah, the valve covers that I have are the "tall" ones.
I called Trick Flow and they said that I would need a 1" space with their intake as well. I think it is time to get some new valve covers.
I checkout out the finned ones and they do look nice. Did you have any problems with the throttle linkage or anything?

I had no issues on my 94. A friend that used a set on his '93 had to do a small amount of grinding to clear the throttle linkage bracket - once installed it was unnoticable.
Let me know if you want to go the "finned" route - I missed my window of opportunity to return mine to Summit so I'd make you a nice deal on mine.
