Well a buddie of mine, just got a boat its a 79 with supposedly a 351. We were wondering how to find out if it is a 351 or a cleveland or a windsor? also what are the main differences between the two? We want to swap intakes and carb first. thanks for the info

Clevelands were discontinued in '74, so it's more than likely not a cleveland. Other than a Windsor, the only other 351 it could be is a 351M. But I don't believe those ever saw marine duty. Easiest way to tell is look at the thermostat housing. 351C's & M's have the housing on the block, where the 351W it attaches to the intake manifold.

cleveland looks like a BIG BLOCK, windsor looks not much bigger than a 302 [ May 07, 2004, 08:17 PM: Message edited by: stoauto ]
