I put on cross drilled/slotted rotors all the way around and driving in the rain they have a very slight rust appearance I figured driving would eventually wear them off.

If driving it isn't getting rid of all the rust you can use scotch brite pads on them. It also makes them look nice if you pull them off and paint the hats with high temp flat black or color of your choice. Make sure to clean all contact surfaces with brake cleaner when your finished.

yeah seriously, just drive it, and use your brakes. If for whatever reason that doesn't work, I agree, just use a scotch brite pad, and be nice. Everything should come off, and leave no damage.

This is on a tangent a little bit. But I have noticed some fox bodies with rust on surface of rear drums. You can see them peeking out from behind an expensive set of rims. Why not remove rust and paint with a semi-gloss black? Or flat? Or something...it would probably look a little bit better and can be done with very little effort.

I'd agree. But I was on a budget at the time and the engine paint (semi-gloss black) has held up rather well (no chips or fading). Maybe when I get a real job, I can afford such luxuries as powdercoating or a new set of LX taillights.
