What is the box that is on the passenger side under the alternator next to the radiator? it has 2 vacuum lines coming from it. i believe 1 is the chacoal can. line. and the other goes to the intake. i want to know if i can take it out. i dont have any smog stuff except the egr plate and valve. no pump or tubes.

That box IS the charcoil canister...1 line comes from your gas tank the other goes to your intake....

what is that thing in the pass. fender then?
i always thought that was the charcoal can.

You mean the round, cylinder thing?....That's for your cruise control...
On a 5.0 the charcoal canister is in the engine compartment bolted to the passenger frame rail and it looks like a square box with 2 vacuum lines on it.... ![[patriot]](graemlins/patriot.gif)

I can attest to that, the box in the engine bay is full of charcoal pellets.
when I was doing my swap I cracked one in the `87 coupe because in the accident the AIR pump pinched up against it, the crud spilled out everywhere, lol

without the tube that pulls air from the cats i heard it can cause something to go bad. what is it?
