ok here is the problem the car runs great but dies on decel at times and idle will sometimes surge and engine will die. All this started when new engine was put in with afr heads and e303 cam. everyone said it was a tuning problem so i dished out $475 to "BYRON" and I was to Get 30lbft og torque and 2hp and was suppost to run fine. so took car home and after the long drive home vehicle still ran like shit whats wrong?? up for any suggestions. [Confused]

I've read from a lot of different places that after installing an e-cam the motor will have a hard timing idling periodically for a few hundred miles. I actually just installed one a couple weeks back and every once in a while it will not idle while in gear. You can imagine what a pain this is since I have an automatic. That's why I only have about 10 miles on the cam so far. [Frown]

But I've heard some peoples need up to 1000 miles! [Eek!]

Well I just raised the idle a little and it seems to be better but The reson it was lowered in the first place was because the engine ran really rough at around 1000-1200 rpm range but with turndowns on it now it is not as noticable we'll see how it goes from here.

Let Byron know and have him address the issue. He'll make it right.

my guess (and im not an efi expert) is to try those IAC spacers that motorsport sells. i had a huge surging issue with one of my 5.0's and found that replacing the actual IAC didnt help much. with more of a high performance motor like yours, using the spacers would allow for more adjustment in the amount of airflow.

I have about 12,000 mi on mine and it still does that every so often, but most of the time it will idle about 900-950.

The adjustment I made seemed to work fine. The IAC adjuster plate is what I probably need to get. The rockers were adjusted 4 times thats not the problem, and mileage doesn't affect anything with a roller cam that is the reson people use roller cams. Thanks for the input.

I'd check two things...

1) The VSS sensor

2) Your alternator/alterator power wire connections. Does your car get a full charge at idle? Loose nut on your starter solenoid? I had this problem give me the same symptoms you're having. Once was a loose nut, once was a dying alternator.
