from my knowledge you must, because most shops dont want to have the thing under the car right by the roller in case it gets falls out.

When I smogged my stang two weeks ago I asked that question. The guy said it was up to the inspector whether if he wants to do it. When my car was on the rollers, I saw alot of room between the machine and where the turns would have been on a stang.

Ok well thanks for the info guys. From what I am getting from people is that it's not a new law that says you can't smog with turndowns its just a bigger risk with the rollers now.

If you wanna make a drive to Fairfield, Im sure my buddy Jeff(owner) of the Smog Shop on N. Texas st. will do it for you with turndowns. He just did my brothers truck, although it is lifted and it has turndowns, never has said anything to me either and he just smogged my car a couple months ago! [patriot]
