You can get things like intake, heads but the most important is cams/springs made for higher rpms

In order to have a motor with a power band that deos not fall off after 7000 rpm, you need a larg camshaft with a lot of overlap, lighter valves, rockers, stiffer valve springs to prevent valve float, some type of short runner intake designed to flow at higher rpm's and a set of very high flowing heads. Since higher rpms result in blistering piston speeds and since big cams tend to loose compression, custom pistons with a minimum of 12:1 compression or higher will be needed in addition to a set of premium rods. A mustang would need at least a 4.56 geard rear end or lower to make use of a high reving motor combo described. Basically, if you want a high reving push rod motor, see Jack Roush for a NASCAR motor.
