Before you start telling me what an idit I am or how I am such a girl for wanting to do this let me explain *why* I am even considering doing this.

I was told by my doctor yesterday that I will need to have surgery on BOTH my knees over the course of a year or possibly 2 years in order to attempt to correct my ongoing dislocating problem with my knee caps. This is a very painful surgery and recovery takes a long time. He told me it may be in my best interest to get rid of the stick shifts for an automatic car, otherwise I may not be able to drive my car for 4-6 months after the sugery. Those who know me also know I adore my Mustangs and I love to drive - the thought of not being able to drive my cars really tears me apart. I hate automatics but I also want to drive my car - this is a pretty big dilliema for me.

So I have my 95 GT I have been building a spiffy motor for and I really don't want to sell that car. How much work is involeved in switching out the 5spd for an automatic, and how much is reasonable labor to pay for such a thing to be done?

Thank you in adavnce..

Recovery from arthroscopic knee surgery depends on the person and varies. The average adult 25+ usually takes 3-4 months to rehab. But you also have to factor in the condition your in, your age, and see how well your body responds to the medications.

Someone say under 25 yrs of age, at their ideal weight and in good condition, and with the strive to keep doing rehab, can fully recover 100% within 2 months.

Compared to someone 25 years of age, overweight, and lazy. They would need 4-6 months or however long to recover.

I say screw the auto swap and get a chaffeur [Razz]
Good Luck with everything bro'.

I'd hang on to the five speed and hope for a quick recovery. [patriot] And good luck with your surgery. [Smile]
