If you are talking about dropping it into a Fox body or newer Mustang, a 347 will save money on the initial install. Since the 347 is based on the 302 block all the front dress and the accessories as well as the stock oil pan will fit and the motor will clear the stock hood. The 393 is based on the wider and taller 351 block. Installing it will require an adapter bracket for the front accessories, a 351 oil pan swap kit (which usually consists of an oil pan, pick up tube and dipstick), 351 swap headers and a cowl induction hood to clear the taller 351 (or drop solid motor mounts if you don't mind some extra noise and vibration).

i was torn with the same dilemna about 3 months ago. i went the 351 route. it sucked not being able to use most of my 302 parts, but i wound up having a 393 built and i am really happy with the direction its going. i am still driving my car with the 306 until the 393 is complete. i cant wait to do the swap.
