If you have a real good running 351W and want to put it in a fox body stang what is needed to do so and use the 5.0 EFI system. I know you need to lower the motor about 3/4" and run atleast an 1 1/2" hood and the oil pan and pick up is diff but avalible. What about intake and cam and computer? Any info would be much help.

You need a oil pan from a 351w Crown Vic (with pickup), a lower intake, a 1/4" spacer for the crank pulley, the correct flywheel or flexplate (manual or auto) and a Cowl hood. Everything else from a 302 will swap right over.

If you error on your heads or intake being too small or too big, PLEASE for the love of god error on the side of TOO BIG.

Great guys it sounds like I am half way their. What is the lower intake off of/ or what kind do I buy. My heads are already flowed and as far as intake if my 5.0 is too small then I can step up from their. As fo the 1/4" shacer is this still needed if I am running a BHJ(eb302HO) dampner on the 351 already? I have a 5.0 serpintene belt system on it already so I know the spacing is right. Is that the only reason for the 1/4"? What about cams? The one in the motor is not copmuter friendly.

every 351w ever made was 28oz imbalance.

most EFI 302's are 50, you need a new balancer and flywheel or a lot of machine work [Wink]

The balancer I have is the 302 offset but the 351 imbalance. This is already on the motor and it was balanced with it at build up time. And for the fly wheel I do not know what size it is ( 10" or 11")or what ever the sizes are.

What heads do you have? What do they flow?

What are the specs on the cam? On a properly tuned mass-air car, its very hard to have a non computer friendly cam

They are a cask head that was opened up quite a bit. My friend built the motor for a 73 Bronco for desert running. It turns 6-7k and dynoed at 456HP. When he died I bought the bronco from his wife. Now I am pulling the motor and replacing it with a 92 OMC Cobra 302 that was in my last bronco I totaled. I do not have all the specs on the motor.

To big. Right now it is running a chevy tbi system and I can't get a chip burned big enough for it!!

A 5.O mass air system should greatly increase drivability over a chevy TBI EFI setup on that 351W. As for the intake... your choices are the cobra/GT40 intake with a 351W lower if this is a TRUCK motor. If its a mild performance motor, look into the performer RPM with the 351W lower. If its a medium to hot performance 351W, check out the Trickflow 351 R intake.

Now on the intake who sells them and is it just a lower off a 351 will bolt to the 5.0 top or a whole different animal.

Wasn't their a saleen that came with a 351 and EFI? Would that be a good cam to check into?

And any certain year crown vic pan?

As for the intakes.... the Cobra/GT40 351W lower intake bolts up to the Cobra/GT40 302 upper intake. The Edelbrok 351W lower intake bolts up to the 302 Performer/Performer RPM upper intake.

I'm not sure if the TFS-R 351 lower intake mates to any other upper intake.

You can buy them all from www.summitracing.com

As for the cam, what is your goal for the motor? It would really help to have some specs on the heads.

I am runnning into the intake problem myself. I already have the 351w in my car but I am redoing the top end. I am going with a Coast high performance spyder intake. There arent many intakes available unfortunatly for the 351w. But just like any other motor, you have to decide what you want the motor to do. Supercharged, N/A, N20! Streetable or full race? It sounds like you already have a healthy long block. Do some research on what intakes opperate in your power range and meet your needs. I found the spyder worked the best for me, comes with custom fuel rails, any bottom intake you want( they use carburated 4barrel intakes converted to EFI )! [Big Grin] [burnout]

Thanks for the info to all that answered. I have not yet decided on what motor to do. I have the 351W that will take a few mods to get in the car the way I would want it. Then I also have a 92 OMC Cobra Marine 302 that yould make a geart base for a blower motor. It only has 10k on it and is a high nickle block, steel crank, forged pistons, beefed up mains and HD rods and it would be a bolt in and so would all other parts. [Confused]
