OK this is really weird.

My AOD shifts kind of weird, there is a delay between shifts, and it will upshift through 3rd, but it WON'T DOWNSHIFT unless I stop. When I push the pedal to the floor I hear a slight grinding sound. OD is gone! When I put it in OD, it just revs!

What is going on here? Did a kickdown cable or something break? Or is my tranny dying?

it might be dying cause when mine was dying i lost 4th, then it wouldnt shift to 3rd eventually i lost 4th, 3rd , and second on my way home from tracy. i ended up drivng from castro valley to san leandro in 1st gear. if it just doesnt downshift your tv cable could have just came off the throttle body

If it will not downshift into 3rd or second unless you completley stop it sounds like one of your valve body accumulator valves is stuck open or closed. Do you have a shift kit in it? One of the c clips might have popped loose. If your overdrive is gone then your tranny is going south like myne is. Save the money and throw in a stick conversion thats what I will be doing in the summer.

My AOD just wont shift into 3rd or 4th too, but when I put it in OD, it doesnt slip, it just doesnt shift into it, Do you think that mine is bad too?

I hope it is just the TV cable...I don't have enough money or time for a 5 speed conversion right now.

It's only got 59k miles and I don't beat on it with exceptions to hitting the gas a lot and being/staying in 1st sometimes. Never done the 1-D-1 shuffle, nor any brakestands. I don't know about the previous owner(s) though.

Jared please keep me updated on your swap, if my AOD goes out I am going with a 3550 instead of a T5 too. I just need to know how much the whole conversion and installation costs, maybe a place where I can have it put in?
