I'm soo tired of trying to fix the cooling system on my '87 Merkur Xr4ti(2.3L Turbo, same as the SVO & T-Bird Turbo-coupe)...I'm running NO T-stat and an after market aluminum radiator...Everything else is stock other than my 3" -down pipe to muffler exhaust system....Why does my car still overheat??...I'm running 50/50 water/coolant mix....The funny thing is that the radiator feels cold but it boils over after it comes out the block..Oh yeah its got a brand new waterpump...any help would be appreciated. Have you tried sticking in a thermostat? What about the fan? Working? Spinning the right way?

I've tried a new T-stat, Didnt work. Yes its alway overheated even before I changed the cyl. head(thats the reason I changed the cyl. head..blown head gasket.)The radiator fan comes on only when the guage reads mid-way or or hot, but the radiator doesnt get very hot...It does it mostly when I drive the car for a while and then stop...The lower hose had a spring in it to stop it colapsing, the spring coroded so I pulled it out, but I dont think its that.

FINALLY!!!! I've figured it out!!!The Merk was over heating due to a clogged intake coolant passage, right where the temp. sender is.....Thats why my guage would never read hot but the car was over heating....
