My T5 is making A LOT of noise, I'm pretty sure it's on its last legs. It upshifts and downshifts fine, but gets really loud when I step on it.
Right now my car has edelbrock 6037s, shortys and an x pipe. The only other thing I'll add in the near future is an intake, so it'll be under 300hp. This car makes less than 20 strip passes a year, but does get beat on pretty good on the street. I never power shift it.
I want to keep the budget under $1000 with me doing the labor, plus a new clutch. What are my options?

I guess your option = another junkyard T5 with that budget.
clutch = $200, miscellaneous (who knows) $100 (flywheel resuface, anything you might break, tranny fluid)
I picked up a used 3550 for 900 with a pro 5.0 shifter. Those deals are hard to find. Still with a clutch and a steel bellhousing and miscellaneous I was up to nearly $1300.
new 3550's are what? $1100 at D&D?
John McClesky has a built AOD for sale in the FORD sale section here, if you're into that reliable ET stuff
