Hey folks- finally getting down to planning my new engine for the GT, thought I'd see what everyone's thoughts were on what the best cylinder head out there right now is..
The engine will be a 351w, KB slugs (10.5-11.3, depending on cc size) cam will be somewhere around .280-.290 dur, .540-.550 lift. (1.6 rocker) I'm thinking maybe AFR 185's or Performer RPM's? I like the the stat's on the Windsor Sr. Lites, although I don't think I really need a 200cc intake runner..if that's the case, I'd go Victor Jr's. Iron's are out of the question due to the CR- also, I plan on driving it alot. Of course, the intake and all the F.I. components will be based of the cyl. head selection... Any thoughts??

I would go with AFR 185s on a 351w myself. Double check your P/V interference depending on your cam. It could be tight, or just notch your pistons.

Thanks Shade- AFR's seem like they are the way to go. I spoke with three different speed shops/engine buildup shops today...they were all in favor of them. Anyone else??

You might even consider the AFR 205cc ...........they are bad and if you ever plan to stroke the windsor block they are the way to go

since your not going to smog it, then go with the 205's.

I wouldn't put that 302 intake on your 351. Look into the TFS-R 351 intake. It should match your setup nicely.

I haven't had a chance to look at the numbers yet..do the AFR 205's outflow the Victor Jr's? The only numbers I ran were the 185's vs the RPM's and the Jr's. I'm not too worried about $$$, I figure the heads will make or break this engine. I used to run MoPar products...so I'm still in shock as to how "cheap" things are for the Ford's. Also, not having to smog it is a beautiful thing...
Oh ya, the 302 intake is DEFINITELY out of the question! I have looked into the TFS intakes or possibly a GT-40- although I don't think that would be sufficient flow for this setup- all this will be the next step once I figure the cyl head setup..

AFRs hands down.
I prefer the stroked 302 route but what do I know?
351 will love 205s then again I dont think it will disapprove of the 185s.

That's the way I looked at it, if everyone puts the 185's on 302 based strokers, then it would make sense to put 205's on a 351 based stroker.

I would go with the AFR 205's, but you will need to get custom headers for the runners are a little too big for aftermarket and stock headers. You might also want to check with someone like powerheads.com and ask them if 205's are too big for your combo. I have a 408 windsor stroker and I went with the Victor Jr.'s stage II port, which would probably be up to par with the AFR 185's, but 205's would be much better if your engine needs that much breathing room.

If you want AFRs then go with the 205s. If money is no problem then go with TEA CNC ported TFS heads or better yet some TFS Rs since hooker headers sell headers that fit TFS R head on a 351 into a fox body. Oh and the headers are smog legal too (too bad the heads arent )
