mac shortys+ matching off road h-pipe,2 chamber flowbasters w/ no cat back pipes, home made ram air(6 inch dryer vent from the fog light hole to the factory air box-made to fit the air through the fenderwell-6 inch hole in the fenderwell and air box w/ knN ) [worship] serious ram air.70mm m.a.s,
under drive pulleys,3 core radiator, and ported stock intake.

-the 3:08 rear is peg leg,124,000miles.stock everything else-fuel+ignition

to describe how fast the car is ,i can beat the new 2003 svt lighting...4 times in a row.
i think i run a low 13
i'm looking for low 12's

[Confused] i need to know where to go from here on to run nitrous on my car safly and depenible..

i street race the quater distance about three times a week. and drive normaly other times.

mainly i want to know what i need to do such as with the ignition and fuel system...
i'm stock other than the miner mod i've done.

thanks people [patriot]
p.s how many ponies do you think i'm pushing now?

If you have a one legger, the second the nos hits it will spin one tire for FOREEVVVEEERRRR. It does depend on how bad the posi is gone but I hit a 15.1 @ 109 when my posi was tore back. Once that one wheel starts spinning in first, or soon in second, it takes a hell of a long time to get it back down to the ground.

This is my advice.

Buy gears first and a trak-lock rebuild for your rear end.

3.73's with trak lock rebuild with install will be somewhere around a $500 total depending on where you go.

Then save up and buy a small nitrous system like a 75 shot. ZEX or NX will work just fine. I wouldnt go much bigger with the milage you have though. Plus with a 75 shot you wont need any fuel or ignition upgrades.

unless you have that thing stripped down to 2500 lbs curb weight, a '03 lightning should hand you your ass. Of course, anything can happen on the street. With a blown rear, and street tires, you're looking more at a solid/mid 14 second pass IMHO than a high 12. I have seen newer lightnings put up 14 second passes as well. Not everyone is John Force.

But anyways, basically how it works (IMHO) with modding a car is you have to maintain and fix the basic stuff BEFORE you move on. In your case, that means the rear end. Sure you could nitrous your car and have a blast 'from a roll' and smoke all your buddies on the freeway and it probably costs less than fixing your current rear and adding gears.

so, if it was me I'd fix the rear, but hey, it's your car, and the benefits to N20 are obvious [Wink]

i know ... [Smile] i already order a 28 spline locker and 3:90 gears a few days ago.
i've thought of the mileage being to high to, but the car compression was great [worship] ...and just started putting all these aftermarket parts on the car a few months ago.consider the fact that the car was one owner "mother of two"-and she had a clean dmv record...i run synthetic oils only.---the car was i feel"preserved"in a way
..and when i race i use a recap -slick tire.
i'm very good at lauches with my car
my best reaction time is 0.432.
its not the car .its the driver. [Razz]

i'm asking what would be the best setup to put on my car that performs the way i described.

safely?and what will i should strenghtening on the car with that setup.
i will consider beefing up the fuel system and ignition......

thank you guys you've been a great help [worship]

My first stock bottle baby lived a long life and had 114mph trap speeds with stock heads intake and shortblock but it did have a cam.

My next one went into nuclear melt down when an injector failed but it did have 190K miles on it.

hey so,
did you feel that the cam helped your car with the nitrous? what cam did you use?
do you think i should upgrade my injectors and maybe the fuel pump? what was your first nos system-who makes it i mean..how big of a shot where you using...

i'm thinking of going with zex because they use a nitrous managment unit
and its also a small 55hp shot (which i feel is good for what i got)and if needed i can easily setup my car to run to a 125hp shot-safely

has anyone tired that sneaky pete system?

I've heard ZEX sucks. Nitrous Express is supposedly the best (wet) [Razz]
