I need a 289/302 short block and heads in decent shape to rebuild for my '65 race car. I am pulling my 5.0L/331 stroker and going back to a vintage legal set up. I am willing to pay a reasonable amount, or trade a race prepped 351W non roller block (.030 over, new cam bearings, new brass freeze plugs and ARP main studs), with a forged steel crank (.010/.010), plus 6 Eagle SRP rods (two others got a little bent up). The block has been mag'd, machined with a torque plate and is ready to assemble. My 331 short block will go up here after I get the new motor built.

i just had a customer in my shop i'm doin a motor swap on he had low compressoin on 3 clinders lowest was a 100. the guy said the motor was just built 2 years ago from a freind in shop class at high school.the car ran good just not so good on power.but started an idled good .on inspection of tear down.the heads had one bad sucked exaust valve an 2 more on the way.but everything else was in really good shape .nothin to racy more vintage stock orintated.all new stuff. as far as i can see get the head fixed an put back to gether.no oil pan oil pump pickup,no timing chain cover intake distrbuter .short block is still assembled comes with flywheel an harmonic balancer.the motor u can tell was in good shape.just took out yester day.u should give me a call for more details .i was gonna try to keep an put back together an resale but he wanted it but no place to take he's tryin to find a spot right now.good deal for some one.i say again this a good motor nothin major to do,they didn't put harden seats in the heads.everything else is in good shape.stock bore a rv cam, 66 heads, 65 or 66 block stock, bore but new pisons, aftmarkt valve springs, comp cams roller tiped rocker arms good oil presure at all times.if u wanted a good quick inexpensive motor this is the one. call for more details. 707 554 4988 or 707 297 0868.

I've got what you need. 1965 block has been cleaned. I'm running the heads on my 63 ranchero. The heads have been fully ported with chevrolet 1.94 and 1.60 valves. I have a set windsor heads that have also been ported that will replace those (gets me into regular gasoline) The early heads give me 10.2:1 compression with the stock 302. Ask me and I'll send pictures
