Hi folks,
I have a T45 out of a 96 Cobra.
Works great other than a grind into 2nd when shifting really fast. Could be used to get around, as a core, or for rebuid.

Would that bolt right up to a 97 gt with no problem?

Yup, they are compatible but require the tailshaft of your old GT transmission to be swapped on which takes about 10 minutes.
