Do my research? really? okay:
They made around 3,000 SS Camaro's in 1998, almost 5,000 in 1999 Almost 9,000 in 2000 around 6,500 in 2001 and something like 12,000 in 2002...
so around 35,000 SS Camaro's were made in the short 4 year run of the LS-1 powered 4th gen F-Body.
Not, by any means or standards, a rare car.
Now: ASSUMING this car is a 2002 (i'll give it the benifit of the doubt for increased value purposes)
There were 1,349 Onyx Black SS coupes produced with the 6-speed, in 2002
Kelley Blue Book puts the value of that car, with a MP3 disc changer, Navigation, Front/rear Airbags, integrated cell phone and condition as "excellent" at $11,800 (I know the car doesn't have those options, i'm just trying to bump up the value)
Edmunds.com puts it at $10,477
and NADA puts it at $12,325
The Impala on the other hand: KBB $6,370 Edmunds $6,931 NADA $6,050
(For lessening of value purposes, i put the Impala's options as low or non-exsistant as possible for each website)
The 1994 Impala SS had a production run of 6,303
In closing: the Impala's asking price is MORE than fair, and the addition of $7,500 on top of a trade for a $10-$12 car is staggering.
Just because people will PAY more, doesn't mean the car is WORTH more... when it comes down to it, if anything happens to that car, do you think insurance will give a shit that YOU think the car is worth $12k, $14k, $16k or whatever? Do they need to "do their research"?

Youre trying to hard. I can tell you dont know much about Camaros.
There are a limited amount of SLP Packaged SS's. People have their SS's forsale for 8-12k all the time. Its pretty hard finding a low mileage Z28 for less then 7-8k, let alone an SS. An SLP Packaged SS is obviously worth more and his car looks pretty mint so i'd say 14k for his car is a decent price. Its not a steal but its a start.
You dont use KBB for special cars. Thats like me saying a 40k mile 2003 cobra is only worth 15k.
