Me and some of the guys are cruising to Reno Friday August 6th in the afternoon. Just seeing what some of you guys have planned for the ride out or if you wanna join in, lmk. Depending on your location, we'll be able to pick a spot to meetup. They'll be a mixture of stangs, vettes, and camaros. Also if you need a hotel to stay at pm me for info on discounted rooms. we're already gonna be in reno at that time. people from the bay are heading to the valley around 10:30 and we're gonna take off from there around 12 noon friday, and pick up the cars in sac around 1. nothing set in stone yet but when the time comes closer i'll organize a little better. i jus need a better idea of how many people are going from each area so we can set up meeting spots. if you'd like you could set of sac meet up, that would be nice, jus try to make it early afternoon. they'll be too much traffic from the bay and in sac at that time for the guys heading that direction

I might head up there saturday on a turn around trip. My fiance's parents are registered and are bringing up their 56 t-bird. At least hoping too, it just got out of the paint booth. Good thing its a small car so it shouldn't take that long to put back together.

I have never been to this event, so I have a few questions.
It looks as though there is a car show almost every day. I am thinking of going for one or two days, but am concerned about a place to park my truck and trailer. Do they have lots for this, or will I get screwed trying to find & pay for parking? Are there any cruise events that are shorter thru town that they allow open headers and slicked tires race cars to go on?

yes, couple years ago, i trailered a car, we stayed at Grand Sierra Resort and they used a nearby high school parking lot to park trailers with 24 hr watch on site. its also fenced in so one way in/out. other hotels have their own setup for trailers. as far as the cruise goes, it pretty much starts at the Peppermill , and you can run the blvd all the way downtown, turn around and go back. anyone can cruise the strip, they'll be people with lawn chairs on both sides of the blvd watching cars go by. as long as your not in a jet car, police dont trip off anything. play music as loud as you want too.. jus cant act a fool. cops everywhere and they'll kick u off the strip.

If your not registered in the cruise I wouldn't bother bringing a car up there. The cruises and most shows are blocked off unless you are registered. Also if you want to get registered I think the wait is a couple of years now. I'd just drive up and park at circus circus and then go check out the cars. Finding a parking spot is much easier Monday-Thursday too. Another good show to check out is in sparks at the Grand Sierra Resort but good luck finding a parking spot there. Even when registered it's hard to get a spot. That's usually where all the tv crews go.

you can still cruise the blvd at night even if your not registered for the sunday cruise. its just as fun imo. and as far as parking goes, i've never had a problem finding parking anywhere i go. grand sierra has the largest parking lot in all of reno. its not that hard to find parking. i say take your car. it sucks when you get out there and see all these bad ass cars and your driving around in your stock little 6 banger.
