Hey guys and gals, this is Rick. I'm gonna make this sweet and to the point as best I can because I'm pretty upset right now. I hope you understand. Some of you may have may know by now that one of our own was banged up today in a pretty horrific crash today on the way to the show.

Lauren(Spdvl), bless her heart, was injured along with her passenger friend enroute from Laffayette to the cruise at TI. I spent most of this day with her at the hospital and assured her that all of our thoughts and prayers from our family here on CaFords are with her and her friend.

All's I'll say at this point is that her friend was treated and released with, thankfully, only minor injuries, but Lauren was admiitted to the ER with significant back and chest injuries. After extensive testing and xrays, etc, she was finally sent home not too long ago. She is home resting at this point, but is stll pretty uncomfortable.

I tell ya folks, I personally witnessed this crash and we are so lucky that this wasn't far worse. Furthermore, she WAS NOT RACING in case anyone was wondering.

So, in the meantime, her spirits, understandably so, are alittle down right now. She requests that she not receive calls or pms from people at this point. However, in her heart, I'm sure that she knows we're all thinkin' of her and for a speedy recovery. Also, at Lauren's request, please direct any questions, concerns, etc. RE: her condition or the THE EVENTS SECTION to me and I promise I'll do my best to keep everyone up to speed.

I, personally, would like to thank the individuals that stopped and helped out today...you guys know who you are. Please, keep Lauren in your thoughts and prayers, I'm sure she means alot to all of you here...I certainly know what she means to me.

Rick

You guys are all so awesome. I don't think she's up to reading posts and what not as of right now, but when she does, she'll see how much everyone cares for her. I have a feeling that she's gonna be strong and make it through this quickly with flying colors and will contacting people soon. What a day, yesterday. I tell ya my emotions were all over the place. I mean, I saw it, it was soooo bad. I thought for sure that they were gonna be SERIOUSLY injured. Even being a fire/medic for as many years as I have cannot prepare ya for something like this as to see someone ya love wreck like that. I'm sooooo thankful that they are ok and that she has cool friends and cool peeps on this site. Keep the thoughts and prayers going. I thank you all (as LAuren does too) from the bottom of my heart.

Lauren, all though I haven't gotten to meet you or Rick, yet, you are in my thoughts and prayers. Get well soon.

On a side note, driving back from Lafayette to SF through that tunnel really felt dangerous to me, even in my big F-250 Crew. I couldn't help but think of what you went through coming out of there. To me it's very misleading stretch of pavement. Caltrans needs to fix that clusterfuck/fiasco asap!

Anyway, rest up and get well soon Lauren!

Hello My Fellow Caford Members,

This is the first time I have been truly able to sit at a computer desk since my accident. I want to thank everyone who has shown their concern for me these past few days. What happened was very tragic and very possibly could have been fatal as well. My girlfriend and I were extremely lucky to have survived such a crash. She and I want to extend our gratitude to those at the scene the day it happened. I, personally, will not forget those who helped me and my friend out of my car, and sustained us until the ambulence arrived. To those who kept traffic moving and helped secure the scene, you know who you are as well.

Overall, I know that I will never forget what has happened to me and I hope this teaches everyone here a VERY valuable lesson. These cruises, while fun, should not be taken as permission to drive recklessly or fast. A cruise, by definition, means to go or move along, especially in an unhurried or unconcerned fashion. I think everyone here, myself included, should take that more seriously in future events.

From now on, my cruises will be speed monitored and strickly enforced and I expect our members to understand and comply. I realize, in the moment, speeding with your friends and goofing off is just another part of getting the most out of our shows and cruises. But how much are you willing to risk at the expense of yours or another's life?

I know that my friend's life is not worth it, the people around me do not want to die, and I certainly do not want to die.

I hope that my car's loss does not become your own. I also hope that my loss has served a purpose here for you all to be made aware of. Being on this site for some time, I know how much time, effort, and money we put into our "pride and joys." I also know firsthand how quickly it can be taken away from you.

People who knew me and my car, can testify how hard the road has been for me and my car to stay together all these years. The loss of February 19th, was a sad closure to an emotional struggle.

At this time, I appreciate all your pm's and hopes for my speedy recovery. Yet I implore that you no longer ask me to bring up what happened that day. My friends and I have already been asked to explain the story too many times to law enforcement, paramedics, and insurance companies as it is.

It's an on-going painful experience for me that I do not wish to keep re-living. I ask that you help me transition past this and wish me luck in my future endeavours.

At this time, I will continue to be your Cafords Events moderator so I hope any questions, concerns, in this area will still be directed my way. I have plans to begin organizing our first show of the year sometime in mid-april. I hope to see everyone is full force there, safe and sound.

Once again, thanks for all the encouragement and concern for me and my friend. All that we ask is that you drive safe wherever you go, and not take for granted what you can lose if you don't.

My Regards,
Lauren
