yeah, since i was having a terrible day overall. 13.2 off the freeway. 12.96 2 104 with a 5.5k dump.. 13.4 or 5 after the car stalled at the light I decided to give the 6.4k dump a try... I had my AAA card at hand and my cell ready with their number on speed dial.. luckily nothing serious happened.
I originally had it at 6.6k or so but ended up launching at 6.2-4K.. Needless to say, i won't be doing that again. Only netted me a 1.73 and 12.97.. i've gotten much better 60s with just a 4.5k dump.. .... got eliminated and sent
home on my first round and came home with my tail between my legs... I'll have my chance of redemption this Saturday.
ps: to top if off.. i messed up one of my rear studs again..

Hey Jersey,
I went through a bunch of lugs and lug nuts too. Make sure you start them by hand a few threads before putting the wrench on them and put some assembly lube on them to help them out. You may want to clean them with a wire brush first and do that occasionally to keep them clean. I think the lugs dig into the aluminum rims and put shavings on the threads.
When I get the new motor broken in and put the supercharger back on I think that I am going to switch to the drag radials so I don't have to change the tires at the track. I can't run the bias plys anyway if I want to use all my power and stay above the 11.50 mark. I will need to let it spin in 1st so I can get over 120mph and stay above 11.50. I won't be consistent, but it should be fun.
Hopefully I will see you out there again in a couple months, but I will be racing my car instead of my bike. I got the pushrods yesterday, so I can finish assembling the motor this weekend.

theres somethin going on with your launch. Every time you launch, theres a bad metal sound. It sounds like a super loud squeak or something. I don't know if its possible at your power level but you could be running such little pressure that your rim is spinning inside the tire. I know that has happened to me before but im making a little over 600ft. lbs

I had been told that before.. sometimes it does it sometimes it doesn't... i've checked thinking that it could be the torque boxes, but they seem fine... seems like it's the drivetrain just taking a beating... doesn't do it at 4.5k or so.. so i'll probably stick to that... If you are talking about the squeak sound.. there is a squeak sound that comes from the shocks.. dunno why.. also.. my tob has been squealing like a raped pig for about a month and ahalf. The best way to test the tire spinning on the rim theory is to just take you window chaulk and put a spot or two, half on the rim, half on the tire. Make a few Passes and see if the makes are spreading apart.
That loud metal sound couldalso be theclutch trying to engage on those high RPM dumps. There use to be a video on here of my car launching on a wed night after dark. When I dump the clutch you can see a big flash of light under the car from the clutch engaging the flywheel.

Nice launch... you should get a set of Steeda pulleys, you will pick up another MPH easy and be in the 12.80's range. I have a set for sale, really good condition only 15k miles on them, i'll be at sears point next wed, pm me if interested.

I was there that day watching a couple of your runs...I think I saw the 12.97 run. I know what they mean by that sound on launch, I think I kinda heard it when you hit 2nd too. At least you weren't running times like these.... [ April 08, 2007, 05:43 PM: Message edited by: Black 02 SS ]

damn.. i dunno man.. i'm hesitant about using ud pulleys.. specially with the cooling issues some of this sn95s have. Thankfully, my car has not overheated... I think I'll pass on them for right now, i have some IMRC delete plates that i'm getting ready to install. they should be on in about a month or so.. Hopefully that'll give me a little bit more top end-what i'm missing now.)

Yeah. the sound is weird. i have had people listen for the sound and they said it just normal tire sound.. i dunno.. i'm not too concerned though..
What were you driving? remember.. even if you run 17s.. and that might seem slow.. that's not necessarily the case. maybe you are one hell of a driver and anyone else in that same car would just hit 18s. keep that in perspective.
after having said that? what do you drive? your 60s need work. your times can greatly improve if you get those down a bit. [ April 08, 2007, 05:47 PM: Message edited by: Jmir018 ]

Oh I was out there in my commuter to get some practice down at the track before I go in the SS lol. It's a four door 98 integra auto, all stock no ricer mods. That 60' is as good as it gets as I was WOT with no wheel spin. I just bought the car not long ago and it's at 142k with a new rebuilt tranny but I don't think the plugs/wires/cap have been changed in a goooood while so i'll probably get that changed. Even though its a sedan and an auto I think 17.9s is too slow for it.

So what are some of your mods? You seem to have a good launch and might need more top end.

Jersey, it looks like the video's I took using your snap-shot camera turned out pretty good!
Sorry about the "Oh crap!" but that's when I saw that you red-lit. We'll get some better footage with a real video camera. I'm still trying to remember to have my brother bring his video camera up to me so I can get the footage he took of you awhile back.
