My friends dad wants to run me in his 01 Viper GTS for some money. I dont know if i could take him or not. My car ran a 12.3 @ 126 last time i took it out. That was on my 18inch street tires. What do you all think? I dont know the specefics of the 01 gts, but i do know he can drive.

hmm....maybe get some specifics if you can. barrow a set of DR's......well you did just get those nice pretty new rims and tires so I think you should be able to hook ok. It'll all depend on what type of mods he has done and the drivers/launch.
Oh and let me know when this takes place so we can "fix" your car. [ July 07, 2003, 10:51 PM: Message edited by: ray95 ]

Just see if you can take a peak at his car and look for nitrous or a blower. If he has none then I say go for it but put some tires on your car and you're good to go.
My buddy traps 119-121 in his 02' Z06 and he pulled an 03' Viper all the way to 130mph or so then the Viper started to edge out by a fender before the Z06 gave up.

i would highly suggest you take him up on that.. borrow some slicks, you trap with 10 sec potential.

See...we all know Drew can drive but this isn't his race nor his car.
Jim, you did the talking so handle YOUR business in YOUR car! I know you can do...so just do it.

Uh, guys?
* there were most certainly '02 Vipers made. They were the same as the '01s -- that is, 400-410 RWHP and 3450 lbs. The GTS's typically trap 117-118 bone stock. Depending on mods, it could be running anything up to 140 MPH. * a stock '03 Viper typically runs 11.9 - 12.2 @ 120-123. It doesn't have a jack, spare tire, or cupholders Stock, they make 445 RWHP and weigh 3350 lbs.

Like I was really being serious. Thats why I put the second part in about getting some ET Streets and it will be a good race.

Gonna be close, but with that trap time if you use sticky tires you should come out with the win. I know of a stock 99 viper that ran 12.1 at 120 at sacto on street tires though so if you guys run stock tires, it's a drivers race. Both with et streets or better, a slight edge to you. How much is the bet for?

Um...I think I would take that mans word on it...and just run him...let him hit 11's, bet him double or nothing, we'll tell him he can't run 11's or we'll throw him out, and then you'll win! Just as long as you hook us up with some $$$
