haha,,,man I just wanted to watch everyone tonight. It was cool to see the 03 just rip that new corvette a new one! I had fun even though it was extremely cold. But good racin weather for sure.
Posted by cobraman_1994 (Member # 467) on

ya, its always cold there for some reason. had a good time though
did anyone else se the guy throw it in reverse instead of 3rd? ouch

damn oil coolers
Miles, nice ride man!

DAMN yellow94gt was flyin. busted out a few 12.7's before i left @ 9:45. cobraman i saw you running i think. and to the '03, nice job on the vette!

We had a sweet time tonight. The little stock auto
GT with nothing more than cuts outs and a drop in
k/n went 14.22 at 98.7 mph! That was faster than most modded stick GT's that I saw tonight. See
also took out a 98 Cobra. She tree'd him with the
win with her 14.22 to his losing 14.18! Best 60'
of the nite was the last pass with a 2.13 on the
stock goodyears. My wife ran high 2.28 60's all
nite and I got the 2.13 so I know there is a 14.1
in the GT. Next up is the 3.73's that are going in
on Monday. Hopefully this will bring the 13.9!

I know this was a grudge night...but what times and mph did the 03 Cobra pull off?
Posted by Cobra-Jeep (Member # 1482) on
:
yeah it was a good turn out way too many loud chevys that couldn't break 11. I noticed the quiter Mustangs were always faster. Too bad Gabriel or John91Coupe didn't show up they would have definitly been handing everyone their asses especially John i only saw two cars in the 9s
Yeah i saw that guy throw it in reverse instead of 3rd he must be glad he didn't let the clutch out haha
The 03 was all over from 12s to 15s i think his best was 12.8? not sure though...

I couldnt even spray my heavy pos 96 gt vert into the 13's. Damn 14.01 @ 99.24. Does yellow94gt have plates that read justagt? If so, I will be purchasing new doors thanks to him.(He blew mine off). Seems the only car I could beat was a chic in a red 99&up gt w plates reading redhtgt.I'm starting to think trying to make a 96 gt vert fast is not such a good idea. Oh well, at least I had the guts to go into the waterbox and smoke up the nittos. I guess I was nervous about nothing. It wasnt hard. Had a great time.

damn, i didnt know all these 98cobra people were there. i wasnt running too good, i think one of my spark plug wires isnt all the way plugged in... my speedo was unplugged too... those are good excuses, right? haha
Posted by TIMSPEED87 (Member # 1537) on

I was there too..I obviously had WAY too big of tires on. I cut a 1.85 60' and only ran a 13.7. Ohh well..better luck next time. It was nice to see all the stangs/f-bodies out there too. I WAS supposed to race a few certain females...but since I dunno who they are...I didn't. LOL...Ohh well..anyone get any pics of a black vette race? (With slicks/skinnies on it?) Shyeah
P.S.- I raced a 96+ Cobra on the freeway on the way home..nice race, nice guy. Handed me my butt up top(I knew he would) and waved when he turned off. Anyone know him? His gf got video of the race on the freeway. His plate says "TazCobra"

I had the best grudge night ever, it was real fun especially to talk to Miles and see the 03 run. 12.6 , you should of seen all the f-body owners they were even lovin the cobra.
My best run of the night was a
14.36@97.3
I was happy because I ran two of those.
Posted by F8LPONY (Member # 11) on

Congrats to Miles, and Camarra!
You guys both ran realy well.
I didn't get to watch much racing as I was chasing electrical gramlins in my T/A.
Ieven tried uncapping the exhaust and hoping for a lil more MPH to no avail. BUT IT WAS LOUD AS HELL!!!!
Best for the night was 11.90@113 1.65 60'.

It was great seeing you guys out there last night. Some of you made some very nice passes as well.
Who saw jerky in the f-body slam his car into reverse somewhere around the 660 mark? Darm, I couldn't believe my eyes when I heard the miss shift and saw those blinging reverse lights on!!! Hahaha, oh well, didn't seem to hurt anything.
jmir018-- Congrats on the time bro. That is VERY respectable especially being your first time out. How did the rest of the night go for you?
I'll probably be running the bike soon before I sell it. I just don't want to go against that damn turboed hyabusa with nitrous. That bastard was FAST!
Anyway, great to see you all again.....and if I pissed anyone off by riding around in the staging lanes....sorry, I didn't feel like walking much last night on my foot. And I only got yelled at once for doing a wheelie back there!

Cobra -Jeep there was only two 03cobras out there that night one was yellow ehich want racing and the other was white which is Mile's. There were like 2 2002 or 2001 white cobras out there though. I think you are mistaken.

anybody see the white ls1 z28 runnin 10.80 and 10.90, very fast ride. it was a pretty good night, camara90's car is ridiculously fast for all motor. definitely some good runs.......

Brian (whyt lie) is an Lt1...
Im almost positive that the car you are referring to is Dan (Great White)..he is an LS1..runs real well...
Posted by jayl (Member # 185) on

actually yeah i know both of them, i was referring to dan from norcal. I didnt see brian run a 10 last night. I have never seen dans car on the bottle until last night and it was quite a showing.

Makes me want to hurry up and get my shit together N/A so I can start squeezing! If I can get down to mid 11 N/A then a bottle run should be very interesting.

If you happen to have a particularly loud blue Trans Am running any 11sec runs I would very much like to obtain a copy.
If it is under 5megs you might be able to send it to me via email if you have a fast connection. My email is on 24/7 and I connect at 2,800kbps.

Yes I was behind you in tech, it was like my 4th race of the night. I have it on video, but not digital, so I cant post it. (Besides I cant stand to watch it anymore, it brings tears to my eyes)Nice car dude

Dam with some DR's, full exhaust and more gear you should be close to if not in the 11's.

Lots of nice cars out, good 98Cobra turnout! Didn't race the SLUG, why embarass myself with 14's in the 98! Atleast my car was nicely washed and waxed, looked good parked!

That was definatly worth the drive up...All matt was saying last night was how he wanted his car up there...but i do believe he needs a 2nd and 4th gear to run
anyways, see you guys up there again soon...I know the second that the trany gets back in the cobra we are coming up to run

JMIR, no problem on using the helmet. Glad to see
you could come down and run. Yeah, that last pass
was me driving it. If the wife would cut a 2.1 60'
she would have gone 14.0. way sweet for and auto
with only a k/n filter!
YLW94GT, Thanks man for letting me use your
wrench on the cut outs. Nice to me ya as well.
Sure would have liked to have meet some more people from the board. Did anyone get to see my
wife in the blk 01 gt run? I was way proud of her!

Really? I don't know my friend even says it had the 03 rims on it too he saw the 15 second time also so i don't know maybe it was the 01 i never looked at its rims. by the way i like your car very good paint job and sounded really mean i don't remember what you ran but it sounded good hella lot better than the chevys that were just loud nothing impressive.

Thanks for the props jayl! That was truly an experiance for me pulling off a 10.8 pass, more impresed my car didn't break and was happy to drive it back home to San Jose .
The guy with the 03' cobra, very nice driving and impressive time's! Camara90, your car just halls ass, great race with you and Brian. Cobra/jeep, they may have been loud, but most of those cars are just bolt on car's and a couple of just bolt on/cam cars pulling 12.0-12.2's, impressive in my book for any car, regardless of the decibal reading.

Man, good job on that 12.66 Jim!!! Seeing u bust that 60ft has given me more determination!
Thare were sum nice cars out, and the runs went pretty fast, (I had 6) even though my battery died while I was in the staging lanes!!!
I ran my best so far: 12.89 @ 106.2. Can't wait to head out again. I have to thank the Chevy guys for letting me borrow the jumpers & to the guy in the silver Vette for jumping me. (what rivalry??)
Later all,

sorry didn't see any 10.8 camaros
My best time is 15.55 at 90mph with 6 1/2 inch lift over stock and 35x12.5x15 inch tires thats before i've added the cam. Pretty damn good for a box on wheels that is 3 or 4 feet from the ground and turning huges tires. I once popped a wheelie with my old 31s and that was when the engine was completely stock. I haven't run in a while cause my tranny and rearend are on their death bed all they can handle is rockcrawlin

Threesixes-- What mods do you have? Any Mustang made in the past 15+ years can run low 14's with the basic bolt-ons.
FasterDamnit- Congradulations. When is a cam going in?
TIMSPEED87- congradulations on your first 13 second timeslip. What was your exact (complete) timeslip? Looks like we run neck and neck now. What mods do you have on that vette?
Milesblown03- mid 12's and 110 mph is a great place to start. When Byron gets a switch chip for your car, a bit of race-gas along with the "basic" mods should put you well into the 11's. I'll have a video clip of your car up soon. Already put up some pictures if you haven't looked yet.
F8LPONY- Where you car #804? I got a good shot of one of your last passes, but it was an aborted run. I believe I have your 11 second pass on tape as well, but it didn't come out good.
GR8WHITE- Congardulations on the 10 second pass. Does that make you the fastest LS1 around now? I got that pass on tape and will put it online shortly.
Tyrant89- Were you the guy running spare tires as skinnies? What is your combo?
Posted by F8LPONY (Member # 11) on
:
Sawson,
I was indeed #804
The last pass was dead before it started My computer started really wiggin out.
If you don't mind could you send me both videos or at least upload them long ernough for me to get them?

ST5150,
That's not my first 13 second timeslip. Prior to the Exhaust/Converter I was running 13.8-13.9 all day. Then just to get a 13.75 was pretty crappy. I'm gonna look into things this week. I think those full slicks were actually HURTING me. Maybe I wasn't shifting high enough..I dunno...have to go back to the track..I know low 13's are there.

My car is a 96 GT convertible. It ran a pathetic 15.8 stock(w/flows welded in). I added 4.10's,Nitto dr's,K&N and zex 100 shot to get the 14.01 @ 99mph.(2.11 60 ft) Sound right? I mean I've heard that verts run 1/2 sec slower than a hardtop anyway? If the numbers seem way out of wack, then maybe I better dump this car. The thing is, I really like the way it looks. Next I was thinking I'd get an off road h or X, and eventually some ported svo heads. (Suggestions welcome)Anyways, I know 96 verts are dogs, but if mine is worse than normal than maybe I should just trade it in.

Sawson, Thanks for the props and the video when you get it up.
Nate, I don't street race, well couple time's randomely , but I would line up with you at the track no problem, win or loose, as long as it's a good race. Get your new setup dialed in and if your killing a 10.8 then I may not be much of a threat to you .

Yea, that was me with the "ghetto skinnies", those things are actually pretty nice: they are aluminum, & have new VW tires on them. They weigh just 23lbs with rubber(1/2 the weight of my Tourque Thrust II's). I will be getting rid of them soon, once I'm blown I'd rather not run low 12's(hopefully) on those!!!!
My combo's pretty simple,TFS, mild cam, Cobra intake, Lentech AOD w/4.10's & BFG Drags.
Today I noticed there was WAY more rubber "stains" behind my passenger tire than the driver's side wheel. I know this is the power side, but still, there was hardly any rubber marks on the left. I hope my diff is'nt going bad...
I,m dying to go to the track again this month, hopefully I'll get to meet some more peeps from the board.
Take care,
Shaun

Not bad at all, you beat my best ET by 0.02 seconds! What was your 1/8th mile ET and MPH? What about your trap speed? If you think the slicks were hurting you, pump more air into them, try 20-22 psi.
Threesixes- What do you run on the motor?
Tyrant89- Where did you find TWO aluminum spares? I looked high and low and couldn't find any. Ford charges more for one of those aluminum spares than they charge for a Cobra R rim!
Posted by Tyrant89 (Member # 1033) on
:
I found them at this hokey little used tire & rim place here in Salinas. Just go through all the junky tire stores with a magnet. They may have more, & I can check one day when I have sum free time.
I paid $35 for 2 spares, the tires however were expensive. like $45 A PIECE. It's sum Euro tire for VW buses. The only thing that would fit!!
Posted by TIMSPEED87 (Member # 1537) on
:
ST5150,
I originally had 21psi in them...but I didn't heat them up enough with that psi, so we dropped it down lower..I got them to hook..but my mph came WAY down. (3mph actually) So..I just need more practice at heating up the tires. (Everytime I did it, it sounded like the rear was braking, so I backed out of it. I only actually got one GOOD burnout..in which I did a 1.84 60') I know there's more in it..just gotta practice.
