Got the Stang running good. It was stuck in limp mode... Gonna tune it & try for some better MPH.

I'm gonna be out there tonight with F8L-LS1. I got my SES light thing figured out so she is running pretty good now. I am hoping for low 12's now

Don't you hate it when you're in limp mode I got mine fixed too and bumped the shot back up. Looks like we'll both be hitting new ET's and MPH's

I'm in guys, but since the attendence will be great (hopefully), I might just run once, possibly twice.......

if my ghettofabulous ride is running (reasonably) it'll be out there for some Mirza-like high 18 second passes. Since I don't have true slicks, maybe a low 19. What do I know, maybe an 18 second 1/8 mile. We'll see

Well, after a friend gets done with my GT-40 porting, and a cam, you wont be waiting for my ass no more.
Oh.... haha, and also: I just ordered a Torque Arm and Panhard Rod set-up..... Can you say Hook Up??? I knew you could!
Posted by F8LPONY (Member # 11) on
:
Right on,Does the Torque arm and PHR help with 60's on Stangs? I thought they were only for auto-x or road race applications? Did you get the Griggs set up?
Posted by 93ragLX (Member # 478) on
:
i ordered the Torque Arm & Panhard Bar.
Directly from Griggs, as they have heavy duty torque arm on sale right now.
It will eliminate all froms of tire spin.
Bill has a blown 351. He gets NO tire spin from 1st or 2nd gears! NONE!Does that do it for you or what??
It was designed for both drag and road courses!
It costs, but it is worth every penny if you can stick the power to the tarmac.
Hopefully it will be installed in less then a month, and I will report back to you guys!
go directly to www.griggsracing.com to check the shit out.

Ted, no offense but you're being fed some BS there. It mostly applies to 'road-racing' type traction.Torque arms and Panhard bars are good, but the good-ol' 4-link + a rigid LCA and slicks has gone as low as 1.1 60's or so.
Depending on how the torque arm is placed (tack welded to the rear) it'll rip out just as easily as torque boxes so watch it.
If you don't run slicks don't worry about it.
what am I trying to say? good mod for the road racer, like open-track events at Sears or Watkins Glenn, you know, da twisteez.

:
well, the guys at Griggs virtually guaranteed their Heavy duty for drag racing. they do have several race specific set-ups, road race, drag race, or street.
and i watched the cobra launch like a mother fucker with Kumho Victoracers on it, and it was gone with a very minute spin.
With slicks or drag radials..... hmmmmm.

Prepare to modify your exhaust. Your cat back will rub on your pan hard. Ask 98cobra saleen. He had to modify his exhaust. WIKD281 was going to buy it, but then realized that he would have to change jis exhaust also.

I know, can you say turn downs??
hehe!
I know B, but oh well, thats the cost of traction!??
Screw it!

if you go over to Burger King, they're probably going to recommend a Whopper. Run over to McDonalds, and it's all about the Big Mac.

Im gonna try to be out there on the 27th, all depends on how well i can get the turbos dialed in. Runs decent right now, but needs alot of tuning... some seatbelts might be good too!

I didn't know Bill put a blower on his '93 351W Cobra... but even if he did, I'm sure that car.... with all due respect.... is a joke power wise... which explains the no tire spin. Ask him why his built 351W with full griggs 60 ft'd no better than a stock suspension 5.O.... and ran no better than a stock motored 5.O with a few bolt-ons

Somebody is a wise man.
Ted-Keep in mind you're taking drag racing advice from a road racing shop. Vince@Apex does great quality work...but the word "Apex" doesn't strike fear in the hearts of any local 'stanger that street races or drag races. With all due respect, listen to this COMPLETE BS griggs puts on their web page:
http://www.griggsracing.com/gr40rear.html
"Our urethane lower control arm bushings help insure the elimination of wheel hop when the
quad-shocks and upper control arms are removed. Typical 60 ft. time reduction on radials is .3
to .6 seconds."
0.3 to 0.6 reduction my ass!! Anyone can cut at least a 2.2 60 ft on radials. With a bit more experience, you can get down to the 2.0 to 2.1 range. This crack head claims a rookie can get 1.9 to 1.6 second 60 fts with radials if they add his control arm!!! LOL And someone with a bit of practice can cut 1.7 to 1.4 second 60 fts on radials! LMAO! Don't munch on everything McDonalds puts on the counter, consider other diners like Burger King or www.maximummotorsports.com I doubt Burger King will claim 1.6 to 1.9 60 fts with radials if you add their lower control arm! LOL.
