FWIW my old 2001 Lightning weighed in at 4780#'s with me in it and made 415.3rwhp through an auto and ran 12.20 @ 110.5mph
I'd seriously hope i'd pick up more than 3.5mph if I dropped 1180#'s!!! [ February 19, 2003, 12:09 AM: Message edited by: Jeff S ]

Just doesn't add up does it Chris.... Haha!
That car is either well over 4000lbs, or it's not making 500hp.

Not sure where that came from but i'd bet money that if we drove the same manual transmission vehicle at the track i'd get better times and faster MPH than you...auto boy!

okay I'll bet you $100 you can't drive my mom's 5 speed tercel wagon faster than me.
Yeah that's right, i'm stuck driving a stick 99% of the time. And I GUARANTEE I can drive it faster than you. I haven't driven an auto in about 2 months and I haven't had a real race with an auto in about 5.

i'm not going to let you beat up my mothers car
i'll tell you why i can drive it better than either of you can.
it has 4wd, it has extra low
here is the shifting pattern
EL 1 3 5 2 4 R
you can not launch in EL and then hit 1st gear power shifting 2 seconds after you launch (you can only do about 10 mph in EL).
so when you power shift EL to 1st you're making a complete U turn. trust me i've done it a million times and you wont get it on your first try. keep your money and i'll keep my mom's clutch.

I don't really think you offered much of a challenge man, first off, you are offering to race a non street legal car to a bunch of guys and gals with street legal cars. V6, V8, V10, whatever...I applaud you for bitching that car into the 12's, and albeit almost 11's. However, if most people put the time and money into makeing a drag car like I am sure you did, 11's would be pretty consistent all around the board. Jake made his Ram run in the 13's, and that beast weighs quite a bit more than yours, and I know he did it a very small fraction of the cost of what yours was. Good job with the car, mufflers or no mufflers. now I offer a challenge to you...make it street legal and run similar times, and then we will talk.

I disagree 100%, the guy has a stock looking turbocoupe heading for the mid 11's, slap a pair of mufflers on it and everyone would shut up.
A 12.0 car is a 12.0 car, I appreciate his post.

I don't think it's a turbocoupe Pretty sure it's an SC Bird...Maybe the owner can fill us in on how streetable the car is...mufflers can always be added...he's probably trying to tune her up good and ready....and then deal with the minor details later.
My questions for Jim are:
1. Is it street legal? (I am guessing it's not because smogchecks are part of registration...but would be amazing if it did pass smog)
2. How is the streetability?

Jims Jr. car is not reg. at this time. Although it will pass smog with know problems. The exhaust is removeable. They are running the car with open headers just to tune the motor itself. They are not running a tunnig chip as of yet. The car is running on motor and the modds only.
They will be tunning the car with the exhaust in awhile, as soon as they have all the bugs work out of the motor.
Yes, the SC t-bird is super charged.
It is hard to do tunning when Sac.Race way is so packed. [ February 23, 2003, 09:12 AM: Message edited by: GONE14S ]

my friend's 4 cyl mustang paces with it, if he beats you, you lose. if it's a matter of a tenth of a second then that means we drive the same and there is no winner, thousands of a second dont really mean anything to me.
i'm not about to drive that piece of shit 2 hours to pay $40 to run 22s at the track. I made the bet i make the rules, i told YOU where to meet and you didnt reply to my post until AFTER the weekend although you had time to post at 9am on the 22nd and just ignore my challenge. Sounds like you're scared. So are you taking me up on my offer or what? I'm not about to go out of my way to prove to you that I can drive this car better than you when I already know I can.
Hopefully you'll reply before next month, Chris

pacing? LMAO. Surely you can think of a less accurate method? G-tech is better than that...
when you want to run it somewhere that it can be measured, let me know so I can collect my $100.
I had already said where I'd be: Sac raceway, obviously you chose to change that.
How about this? Take any 5-speed (or 6-speed) car, bring it to Sac. I'll beat you in it and take your $100. [ February 23, 2003, 12:59 PM: Message edited by: shade-tree ]

i didnt say i could drive any other car faster than jeff, just my mom's. that was the deal. trust me, in this race you don't need an accurate measurement because you'll be so far behind.
It's okay, if you want to back out, i understand. i'm sure someone stole your manhood long ago so it's not like you have anything to lose.
