i figured saturday morning is just as good since it's usually about 15 degrees out everytime we go.
JL, maybe if it had a nice exhaust note then everyone wouldn't mind the open exhaust.

maybe hes happy with his car and the way it sounds and doesnt G.A.F. what everyone else thinks...its his car and if he likes it and enjoys it then leave him alone...it is a drag strip...loud cars do go there...half of you are probably upset that his tank of a v6 t-bird will have you looking at tail lights...get over it..

Psycho Dave, I'm guessing you haven't heard the car. It's not that it's LOUD it's that the tone is actually painful to hear. I am complaining and there is no chance in hell of me ever seeing his tail lights. It's because hearing the car is unpleasent.
I'm not impressed by a 12 second 6 cylinder with boost. Did anyone see that blue grand national running 8.6s with a v6 and a turbo???? Now that is pretty damn impressive. Sounded great too.

it's a buick t type, not a gnx or grand national. and it's got a full cage and full interior, along with a laptop and tons of other things. it's no lightwieght. im gonna agree that it's the tone of the car, i'm used to loud cars but this one is ear peircing. i'd much rather listen to a honda with no exhaust.

are you implying that if they swapped motors that the t-bird would still run 12.0 and the buick would still run 8.6s? or have i just helped you realize how stupid it was to use weight as a comparison between a 12 second car and an 8 second car?

if it's 500 flywheel hp then the car would only have to weigh about 3600 lbs.

What?!?
My car weighs 3550 going down the track & dynoed 430RWHP....I pulled 119.x in the 1/4 with a slipping clutch. Typically a 430RWHP car (just under 500 flywheel) will put a 3500lb car in the 120mph area.

Of course this Thunderbird is an Automatic that will run less MPH due to the converter
I don't know why everyone is flipping out about the exhaust. Any day now it will be a 11 second freak'n Thunderbird V6 of all things

3 inch dynomax race-bullets flow well over 1200cfm each...this thing wouldn't lose any power....but it'd sound a whole lot better!
Still, it is quite impressive to see it in the low 12's....just don't compare it to those T-types. Turbos RULE!

he has an auto, you have a stick, for you 430 hp is just under 500 at the flywheel but for him 415 rwhp is just under 500.
in a 3550 lb car with 430 rwhp the 1/4 et should be AROUND 11.6 @ 118. close to your run isn't it?
in a 3600 lb car with 415 rwhp the 1/4 et should be AROUND 11.96 @ 114. He runs 12 flat at 112.
Get it yet?

So, you're saying if he loses 50lbs & ups the boost by 1psi, he'll gain 6+mph..... Or if I put an auto in my car (which is ~50lbs heavier then my tremec) I'll run 6-7mph slower.... Don't think so.
FYI, I ran 119.xmph with a slipping clutch.
