Benefits Of The 2 Stroke Motor:
-Lighter than same size 4 stroke motors
-Very little maintenance due to few moving parts
-Never needs an oil change
-Better acceleration than 4 stroke same size motors

The engine is a early 2000's Nissan 5hp 2 stroke outboard with internal tank and low hours(under 30). Purchased from Chip's Marine here in West Sacramento. Never given me any problems. This motor runs excellent and fires up very easily. Also comes with several back up spark plugs. Has multiple angle settings, forward & reverse, shallow water setting as well which allows you to use the motor while in about 12" of water.

In small craft with a full tank and spare 2.5 gallon gas can you can travel from the middle of Folsom Lake all the way to the North fork where it turns into the American River, back down to the main body of the lake, all the way to the South for of the American River then back to where you started. Not sure how many miles that is, but basically it costs less than $15 to power this motor all day long.

I rarely ran the motor at wide open throttle, but from GPS speedometer it will go 14 mph with two normal sized adults(around 300-350lbs) and gear in the boat at wide open throttle. We usually cruised around at 3/4 throttle roughly 10-12mph depending on water conditions. Spent all day out on Lake Berryessa on less than 3 gallons of gas as well.
