Has anyone been popped yet for the California new exhaust law or know how the process works. My friend just got popped and his car is completely modded and he is going to go through smog and then off to the ref. My question is will the returnstyle fuel system be able to pass any of this considering he only got popped for the loud exhaust?

How did he get caught? Was he getting on it at all?? Just asking cause I’m waiting until things cool off before I drive my car on the public roads again.
From what I’ve read, BAR will go over the car with a fine tooth comb. It might be in his best interest to call and ask about the fuel system.

State ref does not play. I hear they get people for every little thing that isn't stock and doesn't have a CARB EO# on it.

From what I read, you can just pay the fines and not deal with the state ref. Not sure how true that is though.
I think this "new" law is being overblown to scare people from driving their modified cars.

California is a cartel state becoming more and more like mexico. Simply payoff the government and go on your way. Such corruption ... these "laws" are out of control.

Can you be more specific? Which specific VC are you referring to? Several different VC sections related to emissions/muffler requirements. You may receive a more detailed answer than speculation.

Not to get off topic, but this is what is holding me back from spending the money on a full exhaust kit for my s550.

I drive my car 3-4 times a week. There’s a time and place for everything. Drive like a ass hole and you’ll get fucked with.

No he was not getting on it. The cop just had a thing against him for some apparent reason. He is young and the car is loud, fully tinted, smoked tails so its a walking ticket. He told me that they told him he first needs to get it smogged and then off to the ref he goes. This has put my car on a back burner because im about to go through a build but am debating it because if I mod it there is no way that if I get a ticket for 1000 non correctable that I am going to return the car back to stock. From what I have heard you can pay the fine and sell the car to prevent it from going back to stock or what I would also do is give the car to my brother and say I don't own it any more to prevent me from having to go to the ref and just pay the fine. Then after that I would have my brother sell me the car back a while later.

Good info SicStang! The one I laughed at....
Motorcycles manufactured after 1985 may not exceed 80-decibels.
Ha! Uh, Harleys are way above that. I can't believe motorcycles limitations are below cars!

I read the new law is going to be repealed. They’ve reached 300k signatures and sema is looking to amend the law.

At the same time, cops will almost never touch a guy in an expensive exotic sports car that is loud, fully tinted, smoked tail lights. Officers are the tools of the powerful and corrupt The elite politicians, generals, CEOs and bankers of your country never go to jail no matter what crimes they commit. Police are the way in which force and power is applied by the rich and powerful. Ironic police officers themselves are also the victims. They're the ones whose salaries are being slashed, cost of living going up, whose pensions are being stolen. Their economic security is being destroyed along with everybody else. They are not welcome in the circles of the elites, because they are not elite. But to the extent they are operating as the arm or weapon of the elite class, then of course police are people who commit egregious crimes all the time. Cops are protected by the court system and by the law. With rare exception officers are subjected to punishment. But not because police themselves are privileged, but because cops essentially act as the guards of those in power, there is an interest to shield police from accountability. They get elite exemption when they act to service and protect the interest of the elite. And that's what you're seeing, cops being able to use this excessive force with out much consequence or punishment. And this is the definition of a two tiered justice system. Equality and justice for some. The same law is applied differently to you and a guy with a Lambo. Police know the guy in a Lambo can fight back, so law enforcement leave the rich alone. The answer to corrupt and unjust laws is not to obediently follow them. Build your dream car and live your life free. Don't let the rich use their guards, law enforcement, to intimidate you or your friend out of liberty.

Difference here is that his car was modded with an aftermarket exhaust and tinted. Like he said he was a pull over waiting to happen. There are plenty of videos of high end cars being pulled over on YouTube. So your argument does not hold true.
