The 6.0s have a very bad reputation and the early ’03s have poor high pressure pumps, bad injectors, and head gasket problems,
05-‘07s They still have head gasket problems Though the front suspension on the 4x4 is the same set up they used on the newer models' (except 2011+) It will ride good compare to 99-03 with springs
If you are looking for ride quality go for the 05-07 If you don't mind a bump or two on the road and Want a bulletproof monster Go with early 99-02
I personally own a 99 7.3 f350 with custom Deaver springs, edged/piggyback stock turbo @34psi, love it!! IMO 99-02 7.3 international FYI it's the only model that has the international bulletproof 7.3, ford made the first diesel 6.0 for the 03 that's why it's garbage [ 2016-08-26, 09:56 PM: Message edited by: El Caballo ]

I have an 01 f250 with do tuner and a woods tranny. Be patient and look for one that was taken care of. If it's an automatic and still on the original transmission it is just a matter of time before it needs one. Other common problems are cps sensor ($10) or under valve cover harnesses not terribly expensive either. Out of state is a good option to find them to as they had no smog equipment.

Auto tranny's on 99/03 start to go at 150k. Make sure there is no bad front steering at higher speeds on freeway. Do a research on google forums etc.
