Little gains for pain in the ass smog. You don't want to pay 500+ for smogs every 2 years for 10 more horsepower.
Just buy a Vortech or procharger and be smog legal and pick up 140-150 hp.

Yup not worth it. Unless you do the work yourself and run shorty headers, but you'll have to lift the engine a bit to get to them in n out. Not worth it IMO.

$500+
I would not pay extra for a smog because of simple ass headers, especially when it's something you do every TWO years. I don't know how modular motors respond to bolt ons but when I swapped my stock headers and midpipe to longtubes and offroad x-pipe on my 302 I gained 31 rwhp proven by dyno.

31? wow..Nice!
On a 4v motor, id do it every time..my bolt on mach did 330rw with longtubes and other mods (Complete stock longtblock). I dont care who says what, Longtubes always find their way on my cars and always will..

Cali smog laws can kiss my ass, just installed longtubes on my 03 Mach and don't regret it one bit the power and sound difference is second to none when it comes to bolt ons for a 4v manifolds just don't produce..

Avoid any and all mild steel coated long tubes. I have MAC and never driven in rain and they are flaking and show rust and rust bubbles all over the place. They suck.
IMO 2 valve with long tubes is not worth the smog hassle. probably won't even crack 260hp to the wheel with long tubes.

I ended up just using BBK tuned shorties to keep from changing out from LTs every two years. They look and sound better than the stock manifold. I don't know what power I picked bc I didn't dyno before or after. But they sound and feel better than stock.

I think we get it , you dont like longtubes.. Maybe some people want it for the sound and the extra power it adds. Ive seen cammed longtube 2v's in the 11s.. And mac longtubes are a nice quality header when coated properly. i wouldnt say they suck

OP asked about long tubes. Not long tubes and cams. I've personally seen cam only full bolt on big n little 2 valves run 11's for years.
I gave my opinion. You said I don't like long tubes. I never did.
I have MACs on my 2 valve and they are built well but the quality of coating is shit. The headers were put on 5 years ago and 2 of those years the car was parked outdoors and the moisture ruined them. Again my opinion with my experience they didn't live up to their name. I got what I paid for.
If the OP doesn't have cams or gears you'll get better results and any tuner can tune any 2000+ to show all monitors ready to pass smog. Better sound better gains and no laying on your back for hours and hours every 24 months.

Not only the fact of having to get a hook up and paying whatever they charge, but if you get pulled over for whatever reason and the cop notices the longtubes you are getting a nice fat ref ticket. It happened to me..
