AOD just gave out in my fox. Any good tranny recommendations? By used? Rebuild it? Buy a new one? I'm open to the T5 swap but would need to get all the parts and don't want it to take months. I have about 2k I could spend but that is with install also. Any suggestions?

Rebuild your AOD, shift kit and manual valve body.

You can get a complete T5 with bellhousing for around 400. Get a cheap clutch 100. Driveshaft 20-200 depending if it's aluminum or stock. Tranny harness around 50. Labor would be around 400 depending on who does it and where it's done.

wht86. Price for the tranny sounds right, its just finding one. I dont need to replace the drive shaft if its a T5 right?. Ya 2K would build me a pretty good AOD or $2,400 could buy me a lentech. Hmmm

Driveshaft for and AOD is different from the T5. Yea finding a T5 for around that price is a little tough. If you want to have some real fun, the 5spd is the way to go IMHO but to each their own.

In my opinion, I would not trust someones used T5 especially when doing a conversion. If I were to do a conversion, I'd go with a fresh trans and quality clutch (do it right the first time kinda thing). your car is already an auto, if you don't mind it being an auto, beef it up. Shift kits are fun, get a B&M shifter and a mild stall and you're set. Once again, just my opinion.

Do you need to run a different computer when going from AOD to T5?

No need to swap computer, my friend did the swap and didn't switch computers. Why not save your money until you can find a used but complete tko500 or tko600 kit for around that price and you wont Have to worry about breaking it like a t5.
