Letting customer service know that our customers are not happy with the service that the company is providing. To make a long story short my former employer was bought out and we were aquired by a company by the name of Gold Star Foods.
What finally did me in was I sent an email to corperate office in Ontario Ca. All of our old customers are upset that we are no longer Ed Jones Food Service and that they are stuck under contract with the new company. I sent the email to all of the Directors down south ( including my new boss of 3 months here in Fairfield Ca.) Letting them know that if they don't go oit and talk to their customers that schools were gonna jump ship.
It really sucks because my Dad and his partner built up the company over 15 years from 2 trucks and 2 whs workers, to 15 trucks and 30+ employees in that short amount of time. He's got one final escrow payment left and he's also done with them.
JUST AND FYI Gold Star Foods is building a new northern DC in Dixon Ca off Curry road ( The old Kragens Building) I would advise against working for these guys. I had over 15 years of experience in the food service industry and they fired me for warning them about their own customers looking to leave the co op. Not to mention half the workers have aps out searching for new jobs.

Sounds like a lot of typical corporate BS and right on par.
like a lot of these buy outs, mergers, take overs they want to clean house and look for any reason/excuse to get rid of you. Problem is, if you try to fight it they'll find another reason to fire you later. In other words, you are now a target and your days will be stressed and days are numbered.
What did they say exactly as to why you got fired?

I was the transportation Supervisor. I was salary and they took advantage of that. When I became a salary I could no longer clock in and record my hours. I am writing down my hours now to show all the 6-7 day work weeks and stuff. On some days I would come in at 4:30am, deliver a route in a class A truck, come back to the shop areter delivering and have a transfer truck show up between 4:00pm-9:00pm, offload it and load it onto smaller bobtails and leave around 10:30-11:00pm....... Then come back to work again at 4:30am and do it all again. I made sure I ran roites that were under 100 miles so I didn't have to run a log book..... Crazy thing is, I didn't mind stepping up and getting shit done. I've never been afraide of hard work when I think it's for a good cause. I thought my hard work would pay off down the line. But Now I know it wasn't worth the 110% effort.

It sucks that I totally agree with what you just said. I feel bad for this guy but there is no denying this is the America we have today.
Doesn't sound like whistle blowing to me. All he was doing was relaying a message from all the pissed off customers so it still makes me think they wanted to get rid of him.

Well I gave them the registration for 3 trucks 9 months in advance for payment to dmv. They sat on it for so long that I had to rent 3 tractors for 2 months while they figured out how to make an appoinment to pay the registration. Sad thing is I did a lot of shit to help their bottom line and they constanlty wouldn't listen to me. Being the ex owners son was a major chip on my shoulder with those guys.
Mind you the director of transportation was the one that dropped the ball on the re

The fact that he went over his manager to a higher authority could be considered whistle blowing, which caused the retaliation
Just possibly... worth looking into though

Until they make a band aid for when your feelings hurt, you should just shut the fuck up and do your job and you wouldn't be fired. True

Well good thing about California is if there's a problem, you can speak on it to a higher authority... and if somebody gets mad and fires you for it, you can sue them lol

Hmm, so what was the protected act if its a retaliation case ? I would advise to contact an employment law attorney, and also do the research. Getting fired does suck, just apply for edd though. One thing I know the lawyer will say is, that for a retaliation case you have to prove that the main cause for your getting fired was you acting in a protected manner under law. The law used to be that it was easier to prove these cases , but the law has changed and now its harder for you to prove. the burden of proof falls on you . Then even if you win, you have to collect it yourself too which is a whole other ballgame as well. Money judgments ARE NOT collected for you by the court or the FTB or anyone really , you have to go out there and use the courts and procedures available to you , it takes time, patience, perseverance, you have to be absolutely relentless,or you can hire someone to do it,BUT that takes all the thrill out of the chase , out of the hunt, plus you wont learn how its done if you hire a collection agent and they are not too cheep either
