the manufacturers suggest 16-18 psi.. I have only made a couple passes at 17... How low can you go safely? thanks

I wouldn't take them passed 16.. They never worked with anything lower. Most of the time about 18-20 worked best for my set up.

Lower pressure doesn't mean more grip. You're looking for the biggest footprint. And if it's a radial then going too low will only hurt you. Less pressure = more drag. More drag = slower car.

I believe it was mickey thompson saying most drag radials operate best at the 16-18psi but our brand mickey thompson is best at 24psi....something about more wobble at a higher speed, but then again I think that was for drag radials for street use while turning. Idk

Thanks for the input....I used to run the same style tires on my mustang with around 400 hp. 21psi was great.
I ran 17 psi at the track(current chevy product). No problems. On the street though-I did 3 massive brake stands. I had the same pressure in the tires as I had at the track.... no Bueno! Mind you I never took a pressure gage out and checked the tires on the street.

After 5 or 6 passes at the track maybe the tire pressure came up?
so the wrinkle wall tire is a better tire for running lower psi? And breaking rear ends.
