hey guys im getting ready to pull the trigger on a mr slim mini split or fujitsu ac unit and was wondering what a reasonable price to pay a contractor to install it would be? I would be buying the unit. Is it something that a profesional hvac guy needs to install or can the diy enthusiast install it himself without issue. Are there any expensive tools that are required to install it if I choose to install it. Would be great to here from anyone who has a mini split. Thanks everyone.

I did the install in my garage.

Bought a vacuum pump manifold gauges for the r410 and borrowed a micron gauge.

Get the copper lines to the size you need already flared and install is cake. They all come pre charged with correct amount of freon for 25ft of copper line.

I already had an auxiliary sub panel that I had installed for 220 plugs and compressor. So all I had to do was run the 220 power a few feet then the control panel wiring. They sell install kits for them.

Lots of illicit growers do them and have ran no issues some without even pulling a deep vacuum. I don't recommend this because humidity causes corrosion with r410 and would eventually shorten the life of the unit.

The Fijitsu is nice...my dad has his delta house setup with them. It's more involved for a home owner whom doest have hvac experience though. If you can find a company willing to do the work with you buying the units it'll be a couple grand in labor depending on job. Figure $2k on the low side for legit permitted work. If your within 25 ft to the condenser it could be doable without special tools. The lines sets on the Fijitsu just bolt on. Other than electrical you run 1/2" pvc from the units for condensate drain.

I charge $4-5k. Hvac guys don't like it when u supply ur own equipment. Thr mark up is part of the hustle, if anything goes wrong tho, don't expect any warranty. Charge double if I didnt install it. There's also a portal that licensed installers have for sure shot trouble shooting. Good luck to u
