So I have a custom cam in my 79 the motor is turbo50 shop motor I bought. I believe I'm in need of a new can and want the same exact one except I don't have cam specs and getting in touch with dan.....well you get the point. Is there a way to measure the cam and see if can be redone? I'm lost at this point as to what my options are

Call comp and see if you can send it to them. Good chance they ground it anyways.

I've heard nothing but great things about fti and I was actually going to use a cam from him and some afr heads when I rebuild the motor in my 86. As for the 79 I just did the top end gaskets and it's back apart for 5 speed conversion. The cam has been on my mind but I think a whole new cam wouldn't be to bad. I'll have to give him a call. Anybody got a suggestion for this set up: edlebrock rpm intake 675 Holley street avenger edlebrock 6025 heads small valves 90 bottom end pulleys Mac shorties x pipe 5 speed and 8.8 w/ 3.27 gears

Just call and order a new custom cam it will be even better then getting what you had. They will ask you questions about your car and build it exactly for tour combo

It doesn't have the lope it used to. I'm interested in just building a fresh motor my self. Found out what cam it was too.

If it had a lope and then changed. Something else is up. Probably not the cam. Timing or carburation maybe lifters or valve adjustment. If you are finding metal in the oil then it could be the cam.
I have specs for a great carbureted cam. It's a jay Allen spec ground by bullet. It needs premium fuel though as it makes lots of compression.

I'm going to check my timing I was told my mechanical advance could be "off" so to speak causing the issue

If the vacuum advance is hooked to manifold vacuum it would take away the lope of a cam.
