I'm might be getting into another Ford. It's not a Mustang but a 1993 F150 XLT 5.8 extended cab 4x4.
http://sfbay.craigslist.org/nby/cto/4894593009.html I'm going to check this out this weekend.
For those who know about these trucks what are your thoughts, any problem areas and how reliable?
Thanks!

oil drip is most likely from oil pan gasket. With that mileage, do a coolant flush, check thermostat and heater core.
Otherwise the 5.8L in those years is a good solid motor, however very thirsty for gas.

These are very good trucks. I've had my '95 for 14+ years now and have 271,000 on it. Very few issues with it. Mine is a 5.0L 2 wheel drive Eddie Bauer edition and I still love it. At 259,000, I put a new engine in it and plan on keeping it for another 200,000. This is my favorite body style for the Ford trucks.
I'm not sure what he meant by drip pan, but the small oil leak may be the rear main seal. Usually is with 238,000 on it.

Had a 92 5.8 with 297k on it when i sold it. Was a good truck but it being a gas guzzler is a complete understatement. Sold it when gas was touching $5 a gallon. Legit thought it was leaking gas because of how fast it was drinking it.

Sounds like they are solid trucks and not much to worry about if maintained correctly.
I'm concern about the small oil leak and wonder how easy the fix is. I guess, i'll find out once I get the truck.
How long do you think the engine will last since the top end was rebuilt?

That's hard to answer. I had to swap engines because my thrust bearing went out. Had horizontal play in the crankshaft and had belt alignment and squeaking issues.
It's all a matter of how it was driven in the past, which you really can't tell, even if the guy says he was easy on it! Sounds like a new/rebuilt tranny and a good to go top end. May last quite a while, depending if the bottom end holds up. Listen to it closely when you take it for a spin. Might have a mechanic check it out before buying....compression test and coolant pressure test. [ 2015-02-19, 03:38 PM: Message edited by: Marks93 ]

I had an '88 Bronco with a 5.8 in it. Great truck, but like the others have said, it's not very fuel efficient. Mine was worse off since it only had a C6. No overdrive = at the gas pump.

I didnt see the truck but from all my research this is one of the better ones out there. I'm just scared of the transmission problems I keep reading about.
I saw this Bronco on clist. Looks pretty good http://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/cto/4903521481.html [ 2015-02-25, 12:29 AM: Message edited by: siri95 ]

Ok thanks. I emailed the guy with the truck last night but he wasn't interested in my trade. Guy seemed like he's not in a hurry to get rid of it
