Just picked up an 02 ford escape XLT V6 with 114k miles. Does anyone have any experience with these cars? I had to get something bigger since my wife is having our second child (a girl) in 3 months and the 92 accord just isnt cutting it...

We had the same model but in black and it was great for us...250k miles and only problem I ever had was a faulty DPFE sensor one time. We don't have anymore but it was a great small SUV for the years that we did own it.

I know they have a recall or something for lighting themselves on fire under the hood.
Happened to my friend. That's how I heard

+1 had the same issue in my 2008. I own a 2007 and a 2008 both hybrid models. 100k miles...No regrets so far.

I had an '05 that I bought brand new. Had 150k on it when some dummy ran a red light and destroyed it. Great car, though they're kind of notorious for cats going bad in them. Especially the front cat on the V6. I had the 2.3 and I had to replace the cat at about 132k. Suspension was the only other thing I ever had to replace on it. It was a really great car.

I like the headroom and space. It has great power and is really smooth. It has the v6 and i heard about the transmission problems so i opted for a 2 year warranty.
