Not sure if this would go under here or Tech Talk..
But ever since I did the IRS swap in my foxbody, Ive been having an issue with the tail pipes looking like theyre sagging down at the tip.. I have tried 3 different aftermarket catbacks and even a stock 03 cobra catback, but its always the same issue..
The exhaust shop I talked to said they would need to cut the pipe where it turns up and out to the back of the car, and then reweld it.. but I dont want welds showing on any of the visible parts because I plan on polishing the tail pipes..
I was wondering if anybody else has had this issue? How did you fix it? Or what could be a possible solution?
I have noticed that a lot of cobras are like this too, but its not noticeable since the way the rear bumper is set up, the bumper covers the tips.. however on a fox its VERY visible!
any ideas/suggestions??

Ive never had that problem.. that looks like shit man sorry lol..
Is it possible because on a new edge we have provisions for hangers above the rear bumper that holds the tips up, where as a fox doesnt ?? [ 2014-09-24, 01:35 PM: Message edited by: Vndcatr ]

Would welding a hanger on each side help this issue? I'm sure it won't be visible above the tail pipe and would keep both aligned.

I believe the 87-93 lx bumpers are bigger then the 4eyes rear bumpers....try swaping one on to see how it fits

@vndcatr I KNOW it does!! Haha.. thats why I wana get it fixed..
Im take it to the shop and see if they can weld hangers in the rear.. i already have fox flotubes so i dont think its the length..
if it doesn't work then anybody know around how much it will cost to hav some tail pipes made for the car?? [ 2014-09-24, 04:35 PM: Message edited by: Blow_U_In_Reverse ]

Make your own hangers or get someone to. You might have to cut back a little on the pipes so they don't stick out too much.

I have flow masters irs 2.5 and it fit fine. No modifications besides them shortening them from where the mufflers connect. From rear view, they should almost be level/parallel with the ground.

Thanks bro!
Now that I think about it, it's probably your mid pipe that are making your cat back sit awkward. It can't be your catback especially if you've switched multiple times with the same results.

Try that or lower your mid pipe. I have a feeling the mid pipe is sitting too high towards the end.

just like everyone else said already, you may have to weld a hanger on each side, I did it on the framerail, to the inside part of the tailpipe. And yes loosen everything up and see if you have room to play with and adjust as neccessary [ 2014-09-24, 09:03 PM: Message edited by: RSCapri ]

Here is my 99-04 cobra SLP catback. Completely stock as it comes but I put bassani race mufflers and Magnaflow 3 1/2" tips on. This is with the factory hangers bolted to the bumper support like factory 99-04.

And this is when I bought 2 1/2" chrome tips, we spread them open and welded them on the catback. Lifted the tip and ran NO hangers! The tips stay put very nicely!

0o0oh gotchaa.. u mean the midpipe might be leveraging the catback and forcing it to face down at the tips?

Thanks man! Ya I'm not a fan of the bump and weld but I hate huge tips on a fox! The exhaust with the 3 1/2 tips was louder but, looks over loud for me!
