I'm looking into painting a car in mystichrome and I've read the SVTP post talking about using the g7 black epoxy under coat and then the g6 mid coat and then just a good clear coat. Does anyone know where it can be purchased or should I leave finding or mixing the color up to the body shop? I'm a sincere DIY'er so it's hard to trust shops with such an important task for me. I'm not going to paint it myself but I want to make sure it's mixed right.
So the question is body shop responsible or can I personally pick it up? I have a auto body supply store near me very reputable business should I talk to them?

I get everything from www.tcpglonal.com these days. Ned's auto body supply is great for support and advice. Ben in the Pittsburg store is well trained and I've known him for over a decade now. Finish master is also a good store. But don't buy DuPont. They have a poor product these days, ppl seems to have the most user friendly product. House of kollor is nice too. I like how all the product innermix too.

Nope mark. Picked up a Nova. Ss front clip lq9/t56 black tucked bumpers and mystichrome paint aught to be a show stopper. I'm just stuck on interior. Maybe go old school houndstooth on buckets and a rear bench and a nice big center console like the mid 60's cudas/chargers

Well the hellcat will cost "less" than a viper and I don't have a house yet so I cooled off with that idea lol. I picked up a 74 but It will have 72 ss front end and it's going to the body shop this week coming up.

you're smokin' crack...I have sprayed dupont/ standox on million dollar cars. PPG water paint sux ass! They have never had a true flex additive ever! No elastic primer.. To adhere to raw plastics. What a poor product....What a poor excuse for a paint company. Its true that dupont is no longer dupont in name. But the technology is still good

Man that was a bad deal with a shady person, I ended up getting some very valuable parts stolen from me and some other stuff but now the car is with a friend still a junk of junk but it's whatever

After working for a DuPont jobber for a number of years. I can tell you any type of color shift paint is hella expensive. Now with the new regs it's probably more. I remember selling one customer just the paint and clear, no primer or other supplies and it was about $3000.00
If your going to drive this a lot think about touch up cause that pretty much doesn't exist. It's like cand in that, if you get a scratch they have to paint that whole side of the car.

This is an expansive paint job, if I were you I would give the car to a good body shop and let them deal with it, that way the shop is responsible for the outcome of the paint
