I would take that opportunity, $11.75 isn't really much so you won't really lose out leaving that job.

I would go for it. If your mechanically inclined you should have no issues with the transition. Yes you may need time to get acclimated to the position but it's a better opportunity.

Benefits and he sees potential .... How old are you? I'd go for it. every job I left was to better myself. I've worked since I was 14 and have worked for 9 different company's. I've been at my present for almost 6 years and realize they take care of me. My point is you'll know, but you have to experience it for yourself.

Take the job! 11.75 isnt anything out here. At least 15 an hour is where most people should be at in the bay to live decent

People make 10$ an hour flipping burgers in the bay. You're worth more than that. I would take the jump.

No offense but I would pick a different profession. Union laborers on my job are making $25/hr plus benefits.

I would talk to someone who works on those types pf vehicles first, but i would most definitely move on from where your at. Recently. I had an offer as a lube tech at a Ford dealership starting at $16 an hour . So you can easily get paid more. Good luck, theres a lot of work out there!

You need to capitalize on this opportunity. I work in the Big Rig industry and if someone is willing to train you at entry level, that is awesome. [ 2014-06-13, 10:27 AM: Message edited by: Blue92 ]

Think long term, diesel work can get you into making more $$. Look at the busses around you or construction equipment. Expensive equipment needs expensive maintenance.

Its kind of scary leaving a stable job, but sometimes you need to in order to advance in your career! I would do it. $11.75 is nothing, you can find a job like that easily if you needed to!!!

You can shove that comment up your ass!! You don't know me and you don't even know how it is like to live here so please keep you stupid shit to yourself.
OP I've been on the same boat as you. Jump ship on that job and move on. My own blood cousin Was paying me 12 and hour for back braking mechanic work and waited a year to give me a dollar raise. Not worth it at all. Pack your shit and don't look back

Take the job or find something different bro. That pay is not worth the skills it takes to be a mechanic. It's good to be humble, but don't remain content at a stale job You can do better.. Goodluck!!

For the time being take it. Better pay and benefits over practically nothing. It's an obvious choice but eventually start thinking long term for something that's more stable and pays more. Making that cash is barely enough to survive on ur own let alone raise a fam.
