I see a lot of adds for long tube headers and im curious.
What is better....
JBA shorties or BBK long tubes.
I know that long tubes provide more power and torque, but other long tube brands are pretty pricey and i have seen a few adds for some bbk with the matching hpipe.
help please..

You get what you pay for. Quality made/fitted parts aren't cheap. But for more of a budget header I like JBA's more then BBK's.

A lot of people get caught up in the long tube header hype. I know I have had them on every setup since this one, and It really depends on the setup if you will benefit much from them. I can tell you most people would tell you that you could not make the power I make with a 1 5/8 shorty, but it does the job. If it is going to be a street car most its life I would say go shorty.

Longtube headers are more critical in a max-effort N/A build than a modest forced induction build. The headers help pull the charge through the combustion chamber when they are coupled with cams that have a good amount of overlap.
I know one thing for sure, longtube headers make a huge improvement in sound quality of a Mustang

Thank you to all who posted.
The only problem i have is when i go to smog it. I'll have to take the headers and pipe off and put all stock back on to have it smogged. It's bad enough having to put my stock pipe back on. lol
It is going to be mainly street car and car shows.
I REALLY WANT LONG TUBES now that i have read some of your post's, but the smog thing kills my urge for LT's. AND im not about to pay for illegal smog either.
IM in a HUGE CONUNDRUM BOYS......

In your situation I would say long tubes are not worth having if they need to be removed every other year [ 2014-05-03, 03:18 PM: Message edited by: Saleen 00-0768 ]
