I am not the customer but I feel some what responsible because I recommended that he should go to dan because I've heard nothing but good things about dan.

customer issues
"after a year waiting on his motor and paid for and Dan say's when is he going to pay him...

A4 4-Bolt Race Block
new freeze plugs
bored .40 over
Forged crank 
Aluminum rods

basically a complete turn key TURBO build




After this text customer has tried to call him multiple times but no answer from Dan yet.

I don't care what other people say about Dan, this guy seems like a shady person. We all have personal issues I get it, but don't use that as an excuse to take peoples money and not follow through on your deals.

I would like to blame the people going to a person's house with $6K and say build me a motor. WTF are you guys thinking, go to a reputable shop and pay a little more. Trust me you will have lot less headache, and your motor on time!!!!

Not trying to get in the mix but I haven't had any returned calls myself about my two motors. I have faith and still want to believe he's a stand up guy but when someone goes MIA I start wondering. I was caught off guard when I found out he was moving. All I want is a simple text back knowing that I'm not gong to get screwed over. Like I said I know he's a stand up guy and has done a lot of nice builds for a killer price but I at least want to know what's going on with my build or my parts. Hopefully we can have something resolved soon because m starting to lose faith.

Just have you machine work done by a rep shop and build the engine yourself. It's not that hard and there are plenty of books and free resources online to help you along. Even the cafords tech section can help.

Life kicks your ass once in awhile, I know the pictures are all fun and games and shit but I know the people who trusted Dan to put together mostly bad ass motors. You realize when you pay someone upfront you're in it with them through thick and thin and if they fall so does your deal. I've dealt with this many times to many good people with good intentions who in this hobby world, first loves the hobby, 2nd loves to see others enjoy the hobby, last thing is to get paid. But always remember the key here is $, how much you could save, how much time you have and how you can leverage others to get you what you want for cheap. People like Dan are collateral damage in situations like this, if you cheap fuckers would pay him exactly what he's worth he probably wouldnt have money problems, he'd also probably have his own shop, he might not have so many people wanting him to build them motors to the point he was backed up as bad as he was. This probably caused him stress, this probably caused his other private issues. Spending your every last free minute to spend on the hobby so people can enjoy it on the cheap will cause strain with others around you that are not as passionate about the hobby as you are. I don't truly know what happened to Dan's personal life, I don't need to because I already know this side work played a part in all of it.

So for the people who at the moment are out money, engines, parts. MOVE ON, chalk it up as a loss or sue the guy but having him do the work on the cheap like you expected is obviously not happening anytime soon. You need to move forward to the next project or chapter, turn the page. And remember the lesson you learned, never pay anybody upfront for any work, always get a set time frame for completion of work, the best deal isn't always the cheapest. In fact it is hardly the cheapest EVER.

I just dont see how some fokes can wait a year even two years for there motor to be done on top of that dish out a few grand and proformance parts, if you dont hear from the guy after a few months that should send up red flags. I meet dan only one time and he seems like a cool guy hopefuly you guys get everything resolved with dan and everything works out.... good luck

I'm going to try to contact him today. The least I want is my parts back, hell my heads are easily $2,500 with what they are N the work done to them. Only reason why I haven't been bugging him is because the last time I talked to him he said he'll be around for at least a couple more months and he would contact me if I had to either pick up my full motor or all my parts and money. That was about a month an a half ago but now I see people saying he left already? No I need to talk to him I'm not giving up my parts N my cash.

Daam, i thought i opened peoples eyes on my post about dan just so they can get there stuff back.

I got all my stuff back since about a month ago, a day before he left or so... i recieved it not built , unassembled as i gave it to him, and parts he ordered for my motor which made us even...

I kept people updated who contacted me about dan "only of what i knew" but i guess they were blinded by people still sticking up for him

Daam neight sorry to hear, he told me he was building you a motor, but you never contacted me, or added your commentary on any of my dan postings on Facebook or on here, i assumed you also were working something out with him thats why i didnt keep you updated aswell ,my bad bro

I did not know he moved. He told me he was going to move in a few months. I need to get in contact with him today to see if I can either get all my parts and money he has of mine or a motor I been also waiting for over a year too. This is the only reason why my car isn't done because I've been waiting also I already have my suspension and fuel system done just need to drop it in and tune.

I got my motor and parts from him a few months ago.he also payed for my gas.but I did not pay up front.It was supposed to be payed for when job was done.I called him,He setup a day and time for me to meet him and pick my stuff up.sucks that it wasn't finished but it is what it is.it seems to be common in the automotive world.even with licensed professionals.it took a reputable company close to a year to send some basic parts.luckly they were located near by so I just started going by they're shop after they stopped returning my calls.I got my parts plus some compensation.

I can only speak from my experience, & have no clue what Dan has going on right now, or what's going on with these situations.

Dan built my long block 302 for me. He was always professional, did the job right, did it under budget & even quicker than he originally stated. He even offered to deliver the motor for free all the way from Discovery Bay to Sacramento. I declined because I knew that would cost him a lot in gas & he was already building my long block for next to nothing. Also he helped me find my cam & picked it up for me from the Bay Area for free. He gave me his price on all parts needed for the build & offered me his price on anything else I would ever need going forward. He also gave me a lot of help on any issue I encountered and helped me troubleshoot many situations I've encountered. He even offered to let me register my car to his place so that I didn't have to smog it in the future.

I know he said he had a lot going on with his health & family life the last time I talked to him(couple months ago), so that may have a lot to do with his lack of communication.

Based on my experience with Dan I would say he will make everything right with all folks involved. I couldn't see a person going from the Dan I know to the Dan everyone is describing in this thread.

What happened to the member "Floored" needs immediate attention since it's 10 YEARS OLD at this point with A JUDGEMENT against turbo50.

If you have a judgment your best bet would be to sell it to a collection company for pennies on the dollar and be done with it. a collection company has more resources and time than you do. They WILL find him, garnish his wages etc. If your judgement is for lets say 5k and agency buys it for $1500 or so, take the money and be happy. There is a few people on this board that can find people or things about people so maybe one of them will chime in and try and help find him. I'd like to know how he's manage to avoid paying the settlement he already has from a member here. If he's making so much money. Has it all been under the table? I thought when you owe someone money & it's order by the courts, he should have had to pay that back.

All the court does is give you a judgment, its your responsibility to collect! You can file BK, but in reality If he had one judgment, he quit his job and found a new job. Its up to you to track the guy down and garnish his wages. Right now it sounds like he has a good job, therefore he isn't going to quit....

And this is why I have been unable to collect, can't find the frigging guy! And when I found people that knew him no one wanted to give me his info. :/

Even if you wanted to sue him you need to first serve him to go to court about it and since you cant find him that will never happen unless you go to Florida.
