i got quoted 2600 to rebuild my 289 here in the sacramento area... -_-

If Dan is still taking on side jobs I would contact him instead. Turbo50 is his user name. He rebuilt my 302 for much less than any shop and he knows exactly what he's doing.

He's moving out of state soon and is trying to finish the last motor(s) he has left, at least that's what he told me.

not really, if customer is looking to re-use the original 289 heads there is a lot of updating to still be done. not to mention it depends on the machine work they are going to do. to get the works machine work can easily be $1000.00.
But on a note of spending $2600 on a 289 with lets say stock heads, yeah thats a crazy amount!
