I called to get an insurance quote for it. When I give the insurance my vin# they say its a 2000 harley davidson Street glide. I clearly have a 2010 street glide and a pink slip that says 2010 street glide. I called dmv and I give them my licence plate # and it comes back as a 2010 Harley Davidson. I asked them to check the vin # because insurance is saying its a vin for 2000. They cant figure it out and asked me to take my bike to chp or have my insurance company to fill out a reg 481 error form. What do should I do should I just register it as is or have the previous owner fix this?

Get a quote from another insurance company, and run the vin yourself.

One of my friends had this issue. It was a 350z and the pink looked legit at a glance, the car ended up being a stolo and the pink said 300z on it after really looking. Previous owner was delt with and the car was a complete loss. So pretty much you might have a stolen vehicle

Does the pink slip VIN and engine number match what's on the bike? If so, what's the 10th digit of the VIN? If it's a Y, it's a 2000, if it's an A, it's a 2010.
Here's how to decode a 1981-2000 VIN http://www.techsweb.us/hdvin812000.html

Not hard to tell if the bike is a 2000 versus a 2010 the frame is completely different the rear swing arm is wider the 2010 bagger should come standard with a 96" and a 6 speed 2000 would be a 88" 5 speed the rear fender and tire are wider and the rear taillight section with the blinkers is different the factory stereos changed a few times once in 05 then again in 09 I think

I know I have a 2010 streetglide. The frame is 2010 also. Everything is consistent with a 2010 streetglide except for the vin. The plates come up to a 2010 harley. Pink slip has all three numbers matching to bike. Engine#,vin and plates
