Good or bad experience? Did they help you get most possible refund?

I used their online program, I think around $50. or so. Its not too bad but to do it right you have to ask some questions but they answered them online with a pretty good turnaround time. Also you can ask questions from various accounting forums online, there a lot of those with accountants that will help you for free.
I'm going to use it again this year, it reads in all your info from the last year so that makes it faster the next time.

When your done and are ready to submit it they give the big push to have one of there store experts look at it for free. I did that and they tried to get me to pay for a more detailed look but in talking to them I came to the conclusion that they knew less that the people on the accounting forums that I was getting free advice from.

I used them back in 06 and I ended up getting audited because of them... And then they turned their back on me when it was their fault! If you do use them make sure you ask for their audit protection plan or else they will leave you screwed...

Funny my uncle and cousin(father and son) used them last year and they both got audited!

Fuck H&R Crock they fucked me out of 3K four years ago cause the tax guy completely missed a form. it was "stuck" to another page. and they reniged on the "mistake insurance" because the form was missing.

Find a good tax guy thru good recommendations i love my tax guy he charges me $170 bucks a year and has found me money even turbo tax missed.
i was laid off this year and couldn't afford him so i called his secretary to tell her we had to skip this year, he called me back personally and said "Good people don't go long without work, you pay me when you can get your files in order and bring it." and he gives me tax advice when i call or go see him.

do it yourself. turbo tax or similar program. why pay more for some monkey at h&r block who would basically be using a similar program as you would doing it yourself ?

And once you get audited, you basically are getting audited for 6 years straight!

I use to work for them (non tax division) years ago. They offered free tax prep for being a employee. Gotta say, it was the worst experience I ever had and will never use them again. I have been using turbo tax, doing it myself online with no issues.

I've used them since 1999. Never had an issue, never got audited. I had a great lady I went to every year. She has since started her own company and now I go to her instead.
