Just wondering before you pick the head, what is the rest of the combo?

For 205 the only option is trick flow to be legit with eo numbers and emission ports, but these sounded more promising.

You can run 165's & 185's on a 351 and make stupid low end power.

If your talking to me.... Stock 94 truck short block Performer efi lower manifold Top end of my 302... Performer upper Bbk egr and tb 36lb injectors(small) till I get 40lb+ injectors 1 5/8 hooker shorties Basically everything has eo numbers and smog legal Not the best, but most legit I can get.

Trick flow heads have a shorter runner and usually make more power. For a 351w the 195 AFR is not going to flow nearly as good as the TFS 205.

Ill look into the tfs 205. I'm looking for more mid and top end power. Will be revved to about 6500 maybe a little more. I just haven't heard many things about the 195's. I do like how they already have a upgraded valve train.

If you're running a 302/306, I'd personally go with an AFR 165.

I know the 165's will be too small for my combo. After looking at those tfs 205's I'm leaning twords that or ported 185 afr's.

I bet that will! But I'm looking for mid and top end power.

If your N/A 351w Afr 185 should be the way to go. if your boosted, high compression then 195 is not a bad starting point. head size will depend on the amount of boost you are going to run.
a smaller head is going to have more air speed and aid in low end driving I.E. 5th gear. unless you dont mind buzzing around in 4th or running steep gear and buzzing in 5th then go as big as you want.
just remember that the Rpm you will have to turn to get those big heads to do what they need to will require: 1.) good valve train to handle the RPM 2.) good rotating assembly to handle RPM if buzzin REALLY high.
LEE made almost 360RWHP with a 185cc afr headed 306, had the cubes been bumped another 50 inches there may have been another 25 or so rwhp to be had. with a little more work here and there custom cam and maybe killer valvetrain components the 400rwhp mark could be achieved. Thanks for the info. Car will be spinning to 6500 9.1 compression and will be boosted down the line. Maybe nitrous for the time being. Valve train will be upgraded with tatanium retainers and better springs. I think I'm going with a 2.02 intake valve but have exhaust and intake ported out. Custom cam for sure.
