Some of the prices people are asking for fox body's right now is CRAZY! Im kind of looking for a Fox I can commute in so I started checking on CL. I absolutely can not understand why people think they can ask so much for a pile of crap. Maybe I have been out of the fox body loop for a while but wtf? Honestly, I had mine for sale like 3 years ago for $5800 and wish I would have done it. I personally would have a hard time getting $4500 for it now. Just because people are asking these outrages prices doesn't mean people buy them. I seriously shopped for at least 6 months before I found the right one.

Get your money right, it's only the beginning on these fox prices cause sn-95s are the new Foxbody in terms of prices. Seen them going for sub 2500s all day long now

You just got to be calm and wait for the right one. I waited almost a year to find the right one and found a clean one with nice mods for great price. [ 2013-08-27, 08:09 PM: Message edited by: Pure Stang ]

This.
Keep looking, and you'll see the same foxbodys on CL for crazy prices. They don't sell.

Its laughable how much people ask for foxes these days. I remember back in 2009 when i was on the market for one, They where all over the place for $2500-$3500 in good shape. I know for a fact people aren't getting the prices they are asking because i see the same car for 3-4 months on craigslist.

Depends on condition and model. There are some nice unmolested foxbody mustangs still available, but are priced accordingly(which to some think it may be overpriced), but almost impossible to find in nice shape anymore.
Now there is an abundance of absolute garbage that is overpriced that you cant help but laugh at some of the off the wall prices...
Classic car in the definition, not yet, but many of these cars are approaching 30 years old!

Exactly. I don't mind paying more for a quality fox, the crazy priced ones are the true piles of junk for 5-6k.

I think the price change is also due to all the flippers and people who part them out its a business now so prices will change saw the same thing happen with imports back in the day!

Am I crazy for not taking 5k for my fox about a year an a half ago when it was 100% stock?
I would've sold it then N there when the 5k was staring at me but when I hopped on CL I saw nothing but straight buckets so I definitely couldn't do it.

Great deals are out there and a lot of pile of junks. You just have to turn into a Craigslist whore to snatch it before somebody else does.

Actually they are cheap here compared to other states, checkout prices of them in other states like Texas and Washington and what you get. North Carolina seems to have very nice ones with a lot of good prices with heavy modifications.

I bought a really clean original owner 91 LX completely stock w/ 99.5k miles about two months ago in Daly City. The owner died and his nephew (who was in his 40s) was asking $6k and I bought it off him for $4500 + a pair of Jordans for his kid.
About 3 weeks later I saw a very clean 91 LX 5spd original owner @ 79k miles for $4500 in the Sacramento area.
Just gotta be patient... there are good ones out there, but they don't last long

I'm usually lucky when it comes to finding a car for a good deal. It took me a week to find my notch but drove to SoCal to get it. Completely worth it if you're a serious buyer

I agree some prices are way too high on some foxs, but IMO the foxs have already hit their rock bottom & are now starting to appreciate in value a bit. As many others have said, if you look around long enough you'll find the one you want at the right price for you. I picked up my coupe a couple years ago as a poor running badly leaking auto, now it's an exceptional running 5 speed. Paid $1800, and now could sell for $7500+ to the right buyer, but then I would just want another one, so no reason to do that. My past two coupes I drove nearly 200 miles out in the middle of nowhere for, so don't be afraid to make a drive

^ This. With an emphasis on cars that haven't been put through the ringer or have been quality built/elegantly restored. [ 2013-08-28, 12:08 PM: Message edited by: PeNiNsula302 ]

Foxes that aren't beat/in excellent condition deserve to have a higher value because like someone said above, These cars are becoming 30 years old and this is the time where the mint examples seperate from the used and abused ones.
A 50-80k original mile Fox in mint shape should be the one bringing in $6-8k. Not the ragged out 7th st special with the odometer rolled over multiple times and the torque boxes ripped to shreds.
