Thought I'd start an official Coyote thread, show us your mods, ask brief questions (unless it's Tech Talk), etc.

'13 GT/CS stock just did a JHR shifter and bracket shifts much better. Did a eibach pro kit drop and your homemade muffler delete the other day until I get a real exhaust setup.

I've tuned hundreds of Coyotes in the last 2 years.
They are by far my favorite cars to tune.

Nice! Good to see you on a road course.
I've been kicking around the idea of getting one of these for my next DD. What kind of hp can these cars make with smog legal, simple bolt-ons?

Apparently we're smog legal for 6-7 years unless you sell it.

I've done so few 13 Shelby's it took a little while to get the Drive By Wire where I wanted it, but from Ron's feedback it's a vast improvement over the Lund tune he had.
Ronnie's '14 was a breeze, but his mods did not really improve power much over stock unless the hood is up so the CAI can grab cooler air.
The IAT is integrated into the Maf on these cars, so it's not ideal to use an aluminum Maf housing and place it in the engine compartment. It's of more benefit to keep the stock air box, run an AFE filter, and open up the grill so the air inlet to the box is open to a ram air effect. We've seen 2+lb/min airflow increase by running a grille to open up the intake inlet vs the stock grille w/fog lights at the drag strip.
Plastic or carbon fiber CAI is fine as well, you just want to make sure the TB opening is large enough to accommodate TB upgrades in the future.
Stock cats are the biggest restriction in these exhaust setups so his after cat setup isn't doing much good either.

You don't have to smog for 6 years unless you sell it, then it's 4 years. IE, sell the car at 5 years old and it must be smogged before selling. Keep it and your first smog will be after 6 years.
So, 2014 cars won't need smog till 2019! (2017 if you sell it)

Simply bolt on a TVS blower, tune it on E85 and we just ran 10.2's in a new '13 Auto with stock converter, stock Trans, stock gears, stock engine, etc. 9's are a Circle D converter away.
All motor power is more difficult if you want to stay 100% legal as the cats are the biggest restriction in these applications.
However, I have several cars over the 460RWHP range on motor with bolt on's. When the car is set up properly you can dip those into the 10's in good conditions.

So if I plan on Airaid CAI and a car delete pipe I should be in the clear?
Also I plan on running the roush grille up top which will remove the air restrictive fog lights..

A full Off Road X/H is worth more than just cat deletes. Never tested them back to back, but full off road cars make more consistently.

I don't think that low, going to go no iso's so maybe more than that. I wasn't going to get them but I got everything for $300 so I figured why not

Only exempt from the biannual emissions testing.
ALL cars are still required to have approved emissions and components.
People think that they have a "pre smog" vehicle they can do whatever they want. Not true. A crazy modded old school muscle car can get tagged and sent to the referee. Does it happen?? Vary rarely but I has.
Some of CA laws are ridiculous.

It's the upr billet antenna. I bought mine for $20 shipped nib on svtp, but I think they're only $28 I start?
My only argue with it is that its very gloss, and doesn't replace the very base part of the stock antenna which is matte...ill probably plastidip mine to match

While I'm waiting to get my suspension on, I threw on some Boss coil covers, installed my JLT passenger oil separator and did some grabber blue trim under the hood. Not happy with the color of the coil covers though so I'm going to get some grabber blue ones.

Well I sold my boss coil covers and since American Muscle doesn't have grabber blue ones, I ordered some custom painted in gloss grabber blue with black lettering. They ship Monday, so ill post pics once I get them on, here's a shot during paint.
And today, I got my new shift knob in the mail. Paid half price of new so I don't mind getting the little things. However I do really wish I could move forward with more "meaningful" mods.

It's a really easy job, I've only lowered one and I did it in about an hour by myself. You will need a spring compressor for the front though.

They weren't on this car, but I would say there are two local members here that can knock it out for you at a hell of a deal too. Sacstangdriver is down near south sac by you, Sic9250 is over my way but both are top notch guys and can do it right!
I'll be running the roush spoiler unless they come out with one I like better.

Finally got my brembos powder coated and installed..need some advice from everyone.
I had the brembos as take offs from a 12 gt, I bought new hawk hp pads, new rotors, and new stainless steel lines. The only part I didn't have that was needed were the shims, the metal crossover that keeps the pads in place (right?)
Well after waiting for three days for my car to be done I'm very unhappy..
There is a clunking from my driver front corner. Seems to be wrong shims that we waited two days for, there's play in the space where the pads sit so they are moving while I drive. Also because the pads aren't seated correctly the brakes don't apply to the rotor correctly...which brings me to my next issue. The brakes are squishy. They feel worse than my gt brakes. I knew there wouldn't be a huge difference between the brakes but the stainless lines don't even feel better...any help?
Posted by TwelveFifty (Member # 13182) on

was it bled correctly? if it was nt the brakes can feel squishy. where did you get the shims from? they are a big factor in keeping the brake pads in place.

Tyler, those look bad ass coated grabber blue. the "." in blue and the rear emblem with that little bit of blue as well makes em POP from behind those wheels. I hope you plan on keeping those wheels as well. best looking wheels on a coyote by far!!!
and X2 on bleeding the brakes. after a caliper change it can take a little longer than normal to bleed completely. but im not to sure about the shim situation. can you get more shims from your work? they might need more to set the pads correctly.

just have them bleed at your job, ask a tech to hook it up. they have the machine to be able to bleed the abs module sounds like you got air in there, but the blue looks good

Oh that makes more sense then, probably not a spare that would clear those brakes. Mines a GT/CS without the brakes.

Ok, so I went to pump gas in my new14 mustang for the first time. I'm looking cool next to my new shiny ride. I look at where I'm supposed to put the gas and then I am puzzled. I immediately look inside my car for some kind of gas door button and nothing. I lightly pull on the gas door and nothing. By now, my coolness factor is out the door and I am freakin out. I was about to go to the tech forums and ask how the hell you open this damn gas door. Then I finally figured it out after about five minutes of panicking. You just push on the gas door like a button. I sure wish they would have showed me this at the dealership. I felt like an idiot. Lol

i think the brembos is one reason why ford decided not to put a spare in the trunk, but also because the rims are 19 inches on the brembo equipped cars. the trunk space was designed around the stock 18 inch wheels. so an 18 inch spare is all you can fit in there, not a 19 inch. so i suppose i can take my spare out and save some weight...never thought about that til now...

No, I didn't. The salesperson thought I knew all about this Mustang, I so did I. He probably assumed that I wanted to get moving, so he skipped the walk around. When he said he would skip the walk around, I was ok with it. Nobodys fault on either party. I was excited and he was done with me after all my negotiating.

Before we left the dealer I asked if there was anything else he didnt tell me about the car and he said no. When we got home and my wife got out of the car she yelled my name to come over to the passanger side and pointed at the Pony on the ground. Took me a few minutes to figure out it was coming from the side mirror. They also failed to mention the "Sport Mode" option. I just took it is just somehting new I found the weeks I owned the car.

I just ordered one, might end up being easier to just sell the boss wheel and buy a gt500, plus you'll get $back rather than straight swap!

Yup. Retained all the steering wheel controls. I don't even know why I have the stereos remote in the car. Lol. Cool factor I guess. This setup easily added 5 HP. Lol

I have been eyeballing quad exhaust too. That, MGW, drag radials in the rear for the track, and possibly a hood. Not sure about what kind of hood as of yet. Not much to choose from since 2013-14.

oxford white gt premium loaded 6 spd leather navi track package, brembo etc, was the one i wanted, but the only one available was all the way in seattle. i didnt know white was so hard to find loaded.

my reviews...
so, i guess when you press the "lock" door button while your driver (or passenger) door is open, that triggers the alarm to sense when it is being towed?
and i just discovered you can lock the center console compartment...
shaker system is awesome!
car seat friendly
now, nitrogen filled tires..does that mean i am limited to where i can fill my tires?
does not come with rear floor mats
in dash can be blacked out by pressing display twice.
did anybody get the rear camera option? how do you like it?
more to come as i drive it more...

There should be a air compressor in your trunk for the tires built in. Which in dash are you talking about? There's the one near the guages and I have the screen in mine which takes some getting used to. My car came with everything except the brembos and rear view camera. But the camera thing is pretty cool, seen it on another one.
Posted by swedensky (Member # 12185) on

You're supposed to get an air pump if your car has brembos because the spare won't clear the brakes.
the display turning black is available Only if you have the LCD screen there and it's for if you want to see nothing there ie, screen is too bright.
every model comes from the factory with rear floor mats, listed on your monroney.
never seen the alarm go off by hitting the lock button with a door open. running or not, just did it with mine: nothing but locked doors.
the rear view cam is cool but limits you to one spoiler.

ya i have the brembos, and nav screen...the door lock while the door is open is supposed to trigger the sensor to activate the alarm if your car is being "towed" away. if im reading the manual right, which im still doing lol

i searched...only one available was in seattle for the oxford white, leather, navi, 6 spd manual, gt track package, brembo, 3.73 gears w/torsen diff...the only one i saw was fairfield ford which had the oxford white but no navi...they told me they could add it for 1895 plus 495 for siri...but by that time i had already picked up the sterling gray.

Did you get the 3:73s? If you're not sure just look at the rear axle and there should be a sticker on it or a tag. I wasn't clear about asking if it had it or not until I put it up on a lift and saw the tag.

Go back and tell them you never got them, there's a survey you have to fill out and threaten them with a bad survey. LOL
lol i havent turned in that survey yet, and i do notice that on the window sticker is does say it comes with floormats...so i will address that
I guess im ass out for the rear floor mats! My sticker says fronts only

Yes, premium. Will that fly if i just walk in and ask for it? Even though the sticker and the salesperson told me it only comes with fronts? Is there anything in writing, from ford, that says the premiums come with 4 piece floor mats?

I've seen his car in person and pics don't do it justice. Lowering it won't change drivability as long as you don't go too low.
Fredfifty, have you figured out the voice controls with sync? Once you figure it out you can name out any song you want without having to search for anything.

Everything seems perfect so far! I stayed just high enough so that my 305s will tick out back and the 20s for the front should be flush. Only time I see run becoming an issue is on speed bumps if it's not driven right. Amazing handling though and extremely soft ride for how they were perceived before hand.

what i was saying was, if you lock the doors (either manually or by remote) WHEN one of the doors are OPEN, that shifts the security system to alarm IF the car is being towed (on top of the regular features). kind of a cool add on...i should have explained it better lol
if you arm the car after the doors are closed, and windows open, there is a interior proximity sensor as well

If lowering a 14 5.0...Would lowering springs, adj PHB, and upgraded strut mounts suffice. Are OE struts/shocks ok to use? not looking to go all out, just thinking about bringing it down from the heavens.
Im looking at using the H&R SS springs (blue), MM adj PHB, gt500 strut mounts.

when you use the gt500 strut mounts I believe you need struts/shocks from 05-09 models.
you're going pretty low with ss springs so you'll definitely want shocks and struts if you want a confortable ride.

That all depends on your pocket and how much you want to spend also with that much of a drop you'll probably need cc plates don't think camber bolts will be enough for you to get back to spec!

how is the ride quality daily driving on air at a reasonable ride height?
I've been considering air for my truck, mainly because of how firm the ride got after I put on the hotchkis TVS suspension kit, even with lightning bilsteins and shock extenders in the back.

The 11s and 12s have oil squirters, the 13 and up do not and have revised pistons to help with the #8 piston issue. Not a deal reaker for me but I guess it could be for someone

Kooks Midlength headers
Off road H/X
2.75 or 3" mandrel bent over the axle pipes
GT500 Axle back (no drone)

Well he does work for a dealer. If they're anything like they were when I worked there(back when it was called suburban ford) they would sell you a new car every month if possible.

Yup, still swapping everything over was quick considering you had to do 2 cars. Does that front bumper clip in and out? How was that? What did you swap over?

The bumper itself is easy to swap on and off with about 10 clips and 20 screws/bolts but you also need new grilles, new foam bumper support, radiator cover etc as a minimum...plus fogs, splitters, under tray etc if you want it done right.

No the ride quality is exactly the same as a lowered Stang. When I swept from coil overs to AirLift it actually slightly improved the ride quality. The only weight gain is adding a air pump and 10 gallon air tank.

Finally got my blowfish bracket in the mail!!
For those of you with an MT82 I've heard nothing but A+ reviews on the part. It's supposed to turn the transmission problems around almost A to Z!

Scroll up...the video describes it flawlessly. My MGW made things pretty solid, but having both together it's almost impossible to miss a shift. I'm shifting every gear at 5k minimum, and I can downshift at higher rpms with the shifter gliding in like butter.

I'm going to try the energy suspension shifter bushing for the stock shifter. Tons of excellent reviews. I'm used to being able to wot shift my cars in hundreds of milliseconds, so if I can't do the same with the bushing I'll know if a shifter, bracket or both is needed.

That blowfish bracket looks awesome.
Today I installed my energy suspension bushing on my shifter. Man what an amazing difference. It has a much more solid feel, easier shifts etc, & for less than $20
If you guys want better shifting, but don't have the extra cash to do the blowfish bracket, or other shifter the energy suspension bushing is an awesome, inexpensive mod that will firm your shifter up in a hurry

After experiencing a few shifter problems in my 2011 I decided I've got to do something about it. The problems I had were missed shifts during high rpm shifting, shifter feeling soft while in gear, incorrect gear selection.
I'm used to my fox with a hurst shifter where none of this is a problem, & I have a WOT shifter in my SRT and have no problems shifting within milliseconds during WOT conditions.
I didn't want to spend the $ on a full shifter/bracket etc. Today I received my energy suspension shifter bushing. Part #4.1134G(black) if you want red the part # is 4.1134R. Took about 20 minutes to install. Huge difference, especially for under $20 shipped! Gear locations are so much more specific, shifter feels solid, I've only done one fast shift under high rpm so far, but it was easy & smooth. No increase in NVH noticeable.
Look how soft the oem shifter bushing is. This is with hardly any pressure. By far the softest bushing I've ever seen. Softer than a drag slick.
Here's the energy suspension bushing. I pressed on it as hard as I could and this is all the deflection I could get. It reuses the oem bracket too.

Received my BMR rear lower control arms today. Super easy install. Took less than one hour from start to finish. So far on a few test drives no wheel hop. I did get into a speed contest, so it was a perfect time to test the control arms & shifter bushing, both worked perfect. Shifting I didn't miss a beat & for the first time my car got sideways rather than wheel hop, or back off the throttle. The BMR's were $89 shipped!

No, unfortunately UPS didn't get the control arms to me until about 6pm, so I wasn't going to go all the way out there to maybe get 1-3 runs in depending on how many people were there. It's strange it seems either they get my packages here around 10:30am, or 6pm. No in between.
I asked BMR to ship via USPS, they said it would cost twice as much to ship. I thought that was odd considering USPS has always had the best price/fastest shipping for me on small to medium size items.

Same here, I have Borla axle backs and the car is plenty loud. No drone though, & quiet while cruising. I think any more exhaust and it would be insane loud. Funny though how each individual part of coyotes exhaust cost as much as an entire fox body exhaust.

I don't see a need for the blowfish bracket until going with an aftermarket 1 piece driveline. I found another bushing likely to help us with oem shifters even more with some help from the corral forum.
It's a whiteline bushing that inserts into the factory transmission mount bushing. Between this and the energy suspension bushing I think all shifter woes will be gone, and for under $60! I'll be ordering this one soon.

Today I received the whiteline transmission bushing insert. I wussed out and cut a 38mm circle out of the center because I love the smooth ride of the coyote and didn't want to muck it up with NVH. Holy cow, I didn't think the shifting could get any better(after the energy suspension shifter bracket bushing), but this insert proved me wrong. It made the shifter a lot less "clicky" and super smooth. Gear locations are impossible to miss now and there is very little resistance in the shifter. It glides into gear with very little effort.
On top of all of that the car feels like it handles better and is more predictable. It feels more firmly planted to the ground. I would say it almost feels like when adding sub frame connectors to a fox body. Everything just feels much more connected. NVH you ask? I haven't noticed any difference at all. Granted I did remove an approx 1.5" circle from the center section as recommended to prevent NVH. I kept the little circle piece so I can install it if I ever feel the need, time will tell, but man am I impressed with these two bushings.
Kdt928 is the whiteline bushing part # & you can see links to pic/video on my post a few posts back. For less than $50 you can have a bad a** shifter in your coyote!

I would say quite a bit, & it improves more than just shifter function.
I did notice a slight bit of vibration if holding steady at high RPMs, but nothing out of control, or scary. Glad I took that chunk out of the center of the whiteline bushing insert.

Thank you, these coyote mean business. Crazy part is I didnt think it would run anywhere close to that. Both my other cars run about the same (both are faster now than when I made the runs in my sig) & they both feel faster than the coyote. I think its because the coyotes are so smooth it makes the car feel slower than it is.

Shocked people will still give money to a business which has an owner who does what he does. To each their own 100% though.
That being said, pre what he was caught doing I would have strongly considered AED to tune my GT500, post issue, I wouldn't give a penny to that business. I know others feel the same as I do, but not everyone thinks like me. It's about principal

No. Sorry, he did it, I will make sure it's not forgotten and to those who don't know about it, they will read about it and make their own choices, like you will, no worries. Have a good day

Still working out some issues. The ride quality is actually way better, I have adjustable dampening so I'm able to soften it up if I need to.

Tyler,
That's a bit expected with Air ride suspension though. Takes a bit to adjust, but once its setup, you're good to go!
What's next once the air ride is to your liking?

I think it's gonna be little adjustments until a TVS, but a house may be first.

Question guys. I was gona put it on tech talk but figured someone could answer here.
So added springs. The driver side strut came apart. Few of the bearings came out and I just put them back in, none missing. Now it rattles a little bit. I'm thinking I might have to tighten the nut to the shock. If not, is the strut messed up?

The factory strut mounts are known to fail when you're doing the install, some guys go to gt500 strut mounts/struts I just got oem gt ones new to replace them under warranty

I would replace them as soon as you can, swing over to ford tomorrow. I have gt500 strut mounts but you'd need 05-09 Struts and that's a more expensive route.

I couldnt make a full pass, slick dancing like a mofo. These wheels are too narrow for the slicks. MT says you can use wheels +/- 1" vs. The tread width. The tread width on these is 8.7", these wheels are 7.5" which is .2" too small, I didnt think it would be a big deal. I started off at 18psi and had to shut it down before the 1/8 mile. Still ran a 12.0@100mph coasing with 1.86 60' but I damn near put it was dancing all over. Raised the pressure up to 25psi per Caseys recommendation. Cut a 1.9 60' shut it down a little after 1/8th mile 12.3@113 still slick dancing at 25psi. I also noticed the outer edges had more wear than the center of the tire, so the tires were distorted as a result of the rim being too narrow. I found some 16x8.5" rims that should work out a lot better.

Yeah it's not fun skating down the track like that. Once you get it all straightened out, you'll probably need a roll bar in that thing. I'm a little hesitant going... Don't want to break something before its paid off.

Coyotes don't need cages until 9.99 or faster I believe, definitely not that fast, especially at sac raceway. I'm thinking mid/low 11's without trying too hard, slipping the clutch for launched instead of clutch dumps etc. 10's balls to the wall.

Yeah I think you need a roll bar at 11.49. I was required to get at least a 6pt when I had my vert that was in the 11.40s

Have any of you guys removed the clutch assist spring on your coyotes? My clutch got stuck near the floor several times during high RPM shifts. I read that removing the spring was the fix... The clutch feels pretty good now...its more firm and seems to shift better...haven't tested it at high RPMs yet though.

Yup I sure did. That's when I found out how much the Procharger base tune sucked. Ran the same times as I did before the Procharger. Ive been email tuning with them, but it's hard since it's cold/rainy lately to get good data logs to send in. Plus I think my pressure plate bolts are backing out so shifting is shit. Gonna have to fix that before I can do anything else. I have an early production model, and of course those are the ones affected by poor assembly process. The powertrain warranty is expired, so Ill have to fix it myself.

It's definitely a hell of a lot faster than the base tune. Im on the 5th tune revision now. Throttle response is a little too sensitive at the moment. Probably gonna have to get it tuned locally.

I have the maintenance package from Ford so I've been having them use the recommended 5/20. I'm gonna go to 5/50 though the next time I change it. I haven't had an oil change yet since going to E85. I've probably put 400 miles since switching.

Nice you'll like it. It's easy to install but you have to cut your rear deck lid. Super easy with a 5" hole saw. I going to throw on a chin spoiler and that's it!!! for now

Yeah that sucks... What rpm in 4th are you in when you shift to 5th?

I ran similar times N/A with the diablosport generic 93 octane tune. 12.26@113 to be exact.
I too need a clutch, and more tuning to make the best of my setup.

You're trap speed could maybe be even more then that... I'll hopefully get to a test n tune sometime before the summer and maybe I'll need to swap out my 3:73s too. I already did the clutch.

You can step you're gear ratio down by getting taller tires. I bought some 28x11.5" Hoosiers and with 3.73's I'm hoping to be able to make it through the traps in 4th still, guess we'll see.

Gonna go with an exedy stage 3 clutch

I have the RST... Great clutch and super soft pedal feel!!!

I went with the exedy stage 3 because I was able to order it through autozone for a really good price, & I'm friends with a Store Manager from autozone, so if any problems arise, he can warranty the clutch out for me.
It seems like a good clutch for a supercharged daily driver that only sees occasional track use. The power holding ability is above where my car will be once fully tuned, so it should be a good clutch for my setup.

Did any of you guys do an aluminum driveshaft by itself? Meaning did you buy one and out it on as the only mod at the time?
If so, how do you like it, think it's worth it? I never noticed a difference in any of the fox's I out them on, and these are a lot more expensive. The coyote driveshaft is crazy heavy though, I was blown away with the weight of it.

I have the Shaftmasters unit with no other drivetrain mods. Its awesome. I got it to rid myself of vibration issues with the stock shaft. Got it, set pinion angle and away I went. Also wont have to worry about it grenading when I get the twins on.

I think I broke something the other day under boost... I heard what sounded like a metal on metal bang type sound. It wasn't too loud and the car jerked go the right. I was close to home and it seemed to drive ok back home, I was only about a mile away. No check engine light, no smoke, no fluids leaking, starts and idles normal, and nothing unusual visually as of now in the engine compartment. I'm hoping it was a suspension part but I haven't looked yet;(

I think it's a motor mount. It doesn't look like its the motor itself. Took it for a quick drive and it still runs fine. When coasting, it doesn't pull or sway to either side. Once you accelerate, it pulls to the right. I have to jack it up and look but can't get to it for a week or so.

How you liking the new clutch?
So far I have about 250 miles on it. I also went with the braided steel clutch line. It grabs up off the floor a little further, definitely a lot more "grabby" than the stock clutch, I guess you would just call that quicker engagement, & definitely a lot more clamping force. The pedal feel is more firm, but not insane.
Hopefully I can leave the helper spring on my pedal assembly and not have the high rpm pedal sticking to the floor problem.
Exedy recommends 750 easy stop & go miles for break in. I'm going to try to follow that as best I can.
My initial impressions are good, but I haven't leaned on it yet, so we'll see.

I'm thinking I want to go e85, 91 really sucks, and running a mix of 100/91 with 100 @ 9/gallon, plus 91 @ 3 is just crazy expensive, not to mention even more of a hassle than tracking down e85 stations. I already know where the stations are since I run e85 in my SRT.
Next mods I'm looking into are cat deletes, or off road mid pipe, stage II upgrade for my procharger(if it's even sold separate), rear upper control arm mount(already have the control arm), one piece driveline, possibly adjustable shocks/struts

Better believe these tires hook on the street! I took out a 750 today 2 out of 3 times, only reason I lost once was because I bogged off the line. Very impressed with the mickeys!

Just switched the transmission fluid to Royal Purple Synchromax, man what a difference! No more notchy shifts! Very smooth shifting, like a hot knife through warm butter! Very impressed! The shift effort went way down, and the car feels more smooth going down the road.

Ive read online from a bunch of different sources that these cars only need injectors and tune to run e85, is this not correct?

A 750? You mean like a GSXR? A motorcycle?

Yes sir

Took out a C6 base vette, he probably only had mufflers. From the light it was cake, from a roll I started off in 3rd at 2k rpm, and still won, so the procharger and mickeys are doing their job. Definitely not the fastest car in the world by any means, but it sure is a heck of a lot of fun!

I'm one of those old guys that usually never street races but I do like to get on it occasionally when I get on the freeway.
Tonight I was going to Togos and I saw this nice blacked out CTS V coupe at the light exiting my neighborhood. He's basically right next to me for the next mile or so. He starts revving so I figure I'll see what the stang can do. We go from a roll at about 30 and he couldn't keep up. I ended up seeing him about 5 minutes later as we both passed the street we were supposed to go down. Turns out he works in the same building as my in SF. I see his car there all the time but he took his personal plate off so I didn't recognize it. Its on E85 and I've been telling all my work friends about now nice his car was. I looked on the Internet and seems like the CTSVs on e85 are around 620hp / 600tq ish to the wheels. Proud of the stang...that's all:)

Seems like a very expensive mod with a lot of work, for a small benefit. If possible dyno before & after

These Kook Super Street Shorties are "supposed" to be almost, if not the equivalent to long tubes if you have a catless mid pipe. The primaries are 1/78" and the collector is 3". Hopefully since the car is boosted, the gains will be decent. Hope it sounds good too. I just added Lethal Performance over axle pipes...not sure if that added anything other than sound...so my old dyno sheet should still be good unless something happened to my car to drop the numbers from 715/585. After the install I'll try to get back on the dyno to see if anything changes....curious myself.

Definitely! Did you build your short block?
I ran into a 15/16 Jeep SRT-8 yesterday, he wasn't too happy with the outcome, and he was the one who instigated it. From a light, from a roll, never saw him. Id bet on crappy 91 octane and an email tune from procharger Id be lucky to be at 525rwhp currently

lol no not yet....I'm not to hard on the car because I know I'm pushing the limits.
Nice. Yeah it always the SUVs and Trucks that seems to want to test me. When I was breaking in my clutch, I couldn't drive 5 miles without it happening.
Posted by FivePTSlow (Member # 7682) on

Yeah when I was breaking in my clutch, it was a daunting task. 750 miles of stop & go. I'm going for about 600whp once I switch to e85 & get professionally tuned, that should be plenty, & still somewhat "safe" for the shortblock

Had a run in with this Ferrari today. He pulled a ricer move and stomped the throttle as soon as I moved over a lane to line up with him. That made it all the more satisfying when a I drove right around his ass and drug it down the road. I was laughing my ass off.
Gonna be insane once I actually do some other mods to it.

This was after taking out a 600rr from 0-top of 4th I don't think I can ever drive without drag radials again.

Bringing this thread back from the dead...
Assuming you guys are still running the stock MT82 6spd trans in your 11-14 coyotes, are you guys experiencing shifting issues? If so, have you done anything to eliminate it?
I've been doing a lot of reading on the 12-13 Boss 302's and there seems to be several owners saying that the shifter is "notchy" and some claim that "they can't get into gear." Is this true? Is the MT82 really that bad?!

2nd to 3rd can be bad sometimes... I got a Barton shifter/bracket and that helped a lot. Also at high RPMs the clutch pedal use to get stuck on the floor. I removed the helper spring under the pedal and that eliminated that problem.

The MT-82 before the 15s is notoriously horrible. That being said I went through a 13 and a 14 with no issues but am on my second transmission for my GT350 already.
I had an MGW and a Blowfish Racing Bracket on my 14 and it felt like a dream! No more grinding or misses.

Man oh man, have I been through this with my 2011. The first problem for me was my pressure plate bolts actually backed out, and broke the locating pins. This made it near impossible to shift.
I also had the clutch pedal sticking to the floor problem, tried removing the helper spring and that did nothing. Problem went away when I switched to a Stage 3 exedy clutch.
Shifting was always super notch and hard, even after adding a white line trans bushing, blowfish bracket, and steed a shifter, still couldn't get the 1-2 shift quickly. And it was very notchy. I also did a braided stainless clutch, no help.
Royal purple synccromax fixed all notchyour shifting

Wow, seems that this issue is quite the mess. I'd hate to dump additional time and money into an already costly purchase assuming the car I end up getting shows signs of these issues. So from what I'm hearing, it seems that I would need to remove the helper spring, add a Blowfish bracket, get an MGW Race spec shifter, and change the transmission fluid to Redline Syncromax. If this still doesn't work, then possibly a whole new clutch and flywheel?!
Maybe this car isn't the right one for me...I was really hoping for something I can buy and not have to do anything to for a long time.

Mine was made in 2010, an early production model, they fixed some of these problems shortly after.

I needed a clutch after the blower anyway, especially once the drag radials went on, so it's not bad that aI had to upgrade all of that anyway

Just for further clarification, were you guys experiencing the shifting issues when power shifting at WOT, when shifting normally at redline, or during normal driving speeds? in getting somewhat hesitatant to get a Boss now since it won't have a warranty and I'll likely be needing to have work done right off the bat...this sucks!

I've had grinding all around. If you want a Ford ESP I can get you one on powertrain for the transmission for pretty cheap.

Mine was a bit more of a unique situation since mine was an early production model and had the pressure plate bolts back out. Other then that though the shifting always sacked with all of the stock stuff in place, I've NEVER missed so many gears. A bracket/shifter at bare minimum for bolt ons and making sure to get a good fluid in there will transform the shifting experience right away. The braided clutch line isn't a bad idea either, it brings the clutch engage/disengage point up off the floor more for better shifting. I still have my helper spring in, although it was removed from the factory in later models.
