Wasup CaFords i Need your Help.

Tried Smogging the 03 Cobra and it FAILED [Frown]
it passed in 2011.

It has : High Catted x pipe.
Accufab TB and KN Intake.
They din't care of the Visual part.

Here is a pic of the results. It only failed the HC (PPM) part, it passed all the rest

HC (PPM)

MAX AVE MEAS
15mph 52 4 95

25mph 36 4 45

[IMG] - [/IMG]

Searched the web. it says its running rich. Might be the catts are bad ? EGR ?

Today i did a tuneup: Spark plugs, new oil change , cleaned MAF, Cleaned intake.

Tried to Clean the EGR but that looked too complicated. lol

Might pick up a used H pipe to see if thats the problem. And also drive it around so the cats get HOT !!!

Would appreciate any Help !!! Thanks Cafords [patriot]

If you smog it with the x-pipe make sure you drive it a while before smoking it so they get REALLY HOT.

My first guess would be the high flow cats , get yourself a stock setup and try again. Or like you said just get those babies super hot!

Assuming you did an oil/filter/air filter/ignition tuneup I would say your cats are old or worn out (or simply did not get hot enough when the test was done). Throw the stock cats back on and I bet you will pass with no issues.

Is the car running a tune?

It was stored for about 7months. Sadly I did the the tune up WITHOUT doing first the tune up [Frown] I will try to smog it again now that it has a fresh tuneup and also going to try adding heet prior to getting it smogged and this time going to get the catts REAL HOT !!! If it still dosent pass I will have to buy a stock pipe [Frown]

No matter what car I have to smog, I drive it around for about 15-20 mins prior to going to the smog station. Then when I get there I leave the car running and stand by it while waiting for the smog tech to smog it. This ensures that the cats are warmed up enough when they do their test.

My 03 v6 has 225,000 miles on it, and the last time I smogged it, it smogged like a new car.

Will a stock h pipe from a 2001 Gt fit ? I searched online and it says it should fit any from 99-04. Only from 04 I might need extensions for the o2 sensors.

Can anyone enlighten me ? , thnx

I had the same problem with my 1991 mustang. The smog tech says there was a lean code on the diagnostic. It turns out an EGR solenoid was bad. Air pressure was lacked that's why. It passed.
