So i have had my 02 GT drop top for about two months now. My stang is bone stock.
My bro-in-law is suggesting that i get an Accufab 70mm Throttle Body & Plenum Combo and a BBK cold air intake to start with. that is $620.
I have seen the BBK CAI and 78mm Throttle Intake Combo @ $450
I have also seen SR Performance Upper Intake Plenum, SR Performance 70mm Throttle body, SR Performance Cold Air Intake @ $365
all three options would give me an upper intake, throttle body and cold air intake.
my questions would be...
is the more expensive option really that much better?
should this be my first mod? is there something better that i should start with?
thanks for the help!

Get some 410s installed, you won't really feel the intake as much as gears but if your set on getting a plenum I'd go with the sr ones from American muscle seems cool.

Just drop a decent air filter in the stock air box and yank off the rubber air snorkel/silencer... Get gears, and an off road x-pipe and catback exhaust.
Gears you will feel, and exhaust will add a little power... but more importantly, you will sound better. The combined visceral experience between the seat-of-you-pants feel of the gears and hearing the roar of the V8 will be worth it... more so than an intake.

-Gears either 373's or 410's. If you really want to get some good 0-60 power go with 430's, but expect to loose a lot of distance on the freeway.
-Short shifter either pro 5.0 or Tri ax.
-Radials nothing better than Mickey thompsons.
-Fender mounted cold air intake. Basic K&N kit does the almost the same thing as these other shinier prettier/more bling, looking kits out there
-Under drive pulley kit.
Depends on how handy you are, all these mods can be done in your driveway within one afternoon.
Make sure you keep up with the maintenance, you would be surprised how much performance is lost due to poor maintenance.

3.73's FTW! But mine is a daily so your situation might be different if you just drive it on weekends
